Personal:

Attended Japanese high school and finished in March 2020. Was very lucky to be able to be a member of a very good team of runners at my high school, even though I was injured most of the time and was not able to be much of a contributor. Am currently doing an Engineering internship at a large manufacturer of Automotive transmissions, etc. It is really exciting. In spring of 2021, if COVID-19 has subsided, I am planning to serve an LDS mission, after which I plan to go to college and study Engineering.

Warm up run.

5 x 2000m (with 1000m jog in between).

My goal was to run these in 7:10.

I could tell from the start that today was not going to be my day for running fast. My body felt so heavy and exhausted from yesterday's long run, but I decided to do the workout anyway and see how well I could handle trying to run fast in an exhausted state. The results were not the greatest.

My times were: 7:20 (+10), 7: 24 (+14), 7:24 (+14), 7:30 (+20), 7:40 (+30)

Lots of shoe money today (10 + 14 + 14 + 20+ 30) x 10 yen = 880 yen (about $8.80)

I would like to try this workout again sometime when I am fresh.

Did a cool down run to get to 12 miles.

PM: VERY heavy rain! No walking this afternoon.

Thanks Zack....I am right on the borderline of the mileage that I can handle. I don't plan on increasing the mileage from now on, but hope to stay in this range until I leave on my mission.

My papers are in and I am waiting for the mission call now. I am so anxious and nervous.

By the way, were you able to run at all while you were on your mission?

I didn't run much on my mission. for about a month one of my companions would go out running with me, but other than that it was just maybe once a month. I know other missionaries who have been able to run everyday
