Attended Japanese high school and finished in March 2020. Was very lucky to be able to be a member of a very good team of runners at my high school, even though I was injured most of the time and was not able to be much of a contributor. Am currently doing an Engineering internship at a large manufacturer of Automotive transmissions, etc. It is really exciting. In spring of 2021, if COVID-19 has subsided, I am planning to serve an LDS mission, after which I plan to go to college and study Engineering.

It has been a while since I wrote on my blog.

I have been to the other side of HELL and back with COVID-19. It hit me extremely hard and I really suffered with it.

It has been more than a month now since I have recovered, and even though the doctors say they cannot find anything wrong with me, I still do not feel 100% normal. I still get winded easily and my heart starts racing like crazy. Some mornings I just cannot get out of bed.

I have started getting back to running, but I have found it very difficult.

Last week I ran a 5K time trial. My time was 37:27. Much of which was walking. When I run, my heart starts pounding and my chest hurts and I have difficult breathing, so I have to stop and walk.

Today my goal was to run 1 mile without stopping. Unfortunately, I was only able to go three laps around the track before I had to stop. I walked and ran some until I got 3 miles today.

I will take a couple of days off to rest, and will try this again.

For those who take this virus lightly, please don't. I know that some and maybe even most have only few problems, but some like me get it very hard. So please do what you can to stop the spread. Wear a mask and avoid crowds.

I’ve been wondering how you were and if everything was okay. I’m sorry to hear that COVID-19 hit you and hit you so hard. A guy in my ward said he felt like God was giving him a second chance at life, that’s how bad COVID-19 hit him. He lost something like 30 lbs from it.

It’s just starting to hit my family. My dad tested positive yesterday, my mom is showing symptoms. She, my sister and I are going to get tested tomorrow.

How fast did your symptoms come on? Were you hospitalized for it?

I’m sorry that it’s still affecting you so much. My heart hurts for you, I know how amazing of a runner you are and so young and healthy. I truly hope you can start to feel some relief soon.

Sarah, thank you.

I was the last in my family to get the virus, but it hit me harder than the others.

At first the symptoms were mild. I had a headache, sore throat and a slight fever. At first I didn't want to stop running so I decided to try and go on runs during the very early morning hours when no one was around but that is when things started getting worse. I have no proof of it, but I think the deep breathing during my runs caused the virus to go deep in the lungs. Anyway, as the days went by the worse I got, I had terrible time breathing and my heart was always racing.

I was in the hospital for 1 week. Luckily I didn't have to use a ventilator. I also never lost my sense of smell or taste. I am glad for that. But my mouth was always very dry and felt like my tongue was swollen. That might have been due to the fever. I have since had three negative PCR tests and hopefully I am on my way to recovery. But I still sometimes have problems breathing, my heart still races, and I still always feel very tired.

The rest of my family recovered and have had no lingering problems; just me. I think it is because I tried to run through it.

I hope you are not coming down with the virus, but if you are, I don't recommend running with it.

Thanks for your story and caution message. I am glad to hear you are recovering. Praying that you can find a full recovery and feel better and find a way back to your normalcy in life soon.

Sorry to hear that it has hit you so hard. Here on the BYU team, one person was hit really hard and it has taken multiple months for him to finally feel alright with running.

Hope that you feel back to your old self again!

I am sorry. That is truly awful. I hope you get better soon.
