wow, kind of weird to actually feel a little sore...right hamstring sore, decided that hitting 65 miles this week after starting the first 2 days of the week with only 6 miles total is not going to be worth it. i think i'll just use this as an excuse to race again. don't think i've missed a week. i'm going to go up and do the mt greylock half marathon trail race. i think i'll go up the mtn afterwards since it is the highest mtn in mass. unfortunately the race was rerouted because of road construction....we'll see maybe i'll not race since it is almost a 3hr ride with gas prices and all being ridiculous...if only i was haynes and wasn't too cool for buying books on tape. maybe this will be a first.

so anyways, i have a great 0.9 mile dirt road loop in a state park i ran on today. kind of short but really nice. i'll have to figure it out. super hilly here. it will be no easy mileage anymore. 65 miles a week here is probably equiv to 72 in providence...

It looks like im gonna be able to do this stage race next weekend. 22,18, and 20 miles. Do you think it is ok? Is it gonna destroy me? Make me stronger? The winner last year averaged 8:52/mile and a woman came in second averaging 9:00/mile. Im not too sure about the terrain, but there is supposed to be 1 mountain for each day but they are like in the 2k range and the elevation starts around 700. If I do it I should probably go into it very casually like the trail marathon and then see what Ive got left on the last day. Stage races could really be my thing with my excellent recovering abilities (although nothing like some guys who do 50's back to back weekends).

totally do it! why wouldn't it be ok? you'll be super strong after...even if you just went out and did it like nipmuck you'll have a great time i'm sure. plus you'll be at 60 miles after only 3 days which i know you'll be pysched about. start slow the first day and if you have stuff left punish the field on day 2 and especially day 3...from my transalpine run experience don't go out too hard on day 1 or you'll pay! just run it comfortably and i think you'll be among the top runners. it will be a neat experience no matter what!

Unfortunately it now looks like my mom is coming with me. So since she doesn't much like me doing even 1 day, I will only be able to do 1 day. But its probably better for my training anyway. I'll do the 18 or 20 mile day and do it pretty hard. Or maybe my mom will change her mind about coming and I'll do all 3.
