Easy with Scott, Matt, Mike, and Toni. I turned back early with Toni to stick to my planned 8. A little chilly but a great morning. Saw Marie, Josee and girls on the way back. 6:56.

After the banter the other day I became fascinated with a dose of Irish history. I can tell you Bam I think the story is awesome so the blog name is not mocking at all. :)

Hey are you doing the Provo 5k tomorrow?

From bdase on Fri, May 03, 2013 at 07:27:49 from 160.7.242.251

yes sir :). Matt is too.

Well all-righty, see you as I pass the 5k start then. Around 7:58 in sixth place, with a nice canyon wind I hope. Where can one get decent breakfast food in downtown Provo I wonder? With luck I can get it in time to cheer you in.

Or even better, race you in for the last mile :)

That course is a screamer :). Have fun and good luck. I'll be cheering as you pass.

Hahaha - My old lady's a bit of a whizz on all that St Brendan history malarkey. She works for the Office Of Public Works doing all tour guide/history stuff: showing Americans and people of other nations too, around Ardfert Cathedral. She can tell you everything you want to know about St Brendan. Quite often she beats me for mocking St Brendan:)

I think the blog name is absolute class - I had to go away and read about it so that I could pretend I knew what was what:) It is a beautiful part of the world. If you've ever seen the movie 'The Quiet Man' - with John Wayne - it's filmed in the Dingle area.

Here's a quote from it that I picked up from IMDb:

"Well, then. Now. I'll begin at the beginnin'. A fine soft day in the spring, it was, when the train pulled into Castletown, three hours late as usual, and himself got off. He didn't have the look of an American tourist at all about him. Not a camera on him; what was worse, not even a fishin' rod."

John Wayne plays a retired American boxer returning to Ireland to the town where he was born. If you haven't seen it, you must watch it - it is a classic. There's a great fight scene in it and there's a bit where a woman gives John Wayne a stick to beat his wife with. Every man should have a good stick to beat the wife with:)

... good luck tomorrow to the [tree] of ye:)

Once again Bam you've made my day. I'll put the film on the short list for sure :). Thanks for the well wishes, i need all i can get.

Hey that film sounds interesting, I'll give it a try. But no luck needed, I have my new Kinvara 3s and it's really hard to keep my feet on the ground today.

Jakers, I'm getting older each and every day: It wasn't filmed in the Dingle area but it's a great film. The film that was shot in the Dingle area was 'Ryan's Daughter', that too is a cracking film. Robert Mitchum is in it along with Trevor Howard. Watch them both and then you'll have a good understanding of what it's like in this backwater bog town of a place:)
