AM 3 miles with EHS from Sunnyside park.

PM 8 miles JRT.  Started slow and picked it up by the finish.  Ankle is really starting to hurt more now that I'm not taking any IB.  I have not taking any since Sunday.  I just got done icing it and it kept twinging every time I rolled the ice cup over it.  I plan to stay off Ib from now until the race to monitor how I'm healing.  I guess I will break down and listen to my wifes accelerated sports healing hypnosis tape tonight when I sleep.  Her tapes usually put me to sleep fast.  But we don't have long to heal so I hope it helps...

How you recover quickly. The ankle sounds painful. What race are you tapering for, Des News?

Jeff, Yes Des but I know it is not the smartest thing to do if I want to run good this fall at St. George or Twin Cities. It's the hardest race I run each year and not that fast. It takes the longest to recover from and if it is hot forget anything good to remember about the race. Last year me and several others were taking IV's to rehydrate. Dennis has told me that I will run better in the fall if I skip it and so I'm still on the fence today with the ankle. I want to stay off IB until just before the race to watch the ankle, but it is painful. My coach told me to go back on it now. So we will see. How about you what are your plans this fall or any other big races you plan to do soon.

I am also considering Des News and have the same reservations. I was about 90% sure, but now I am rethinking running it (plus looking at my expenses for all my racing is adding up!). I am running St. George in October and want to shoot for a low 2:30's and have a running friend up here who suggested I run Des News as a training run for the downhill conditions. I still have a couple of days to decide, but I am more 50/50 now. Besides these, I have a local 10K this weekend and may try to find a HM locally to run between now and SGM.
