June - Riverview 5k  - Bummed I missed signing up for this one. It's one of my favorites!
Sept - Gatorade/Steelers 5k. (Signed up!)
Sept - IKEA Montour Trail Half  (prob not, but leaving it on here)
Sept - The Great Race 10k (My Running 101 goal race)
Nov - Dirt Monster 5mi (Gotta do it again no matter what!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Finish recovering from my injuries and build mileage.  That is all.

Personal:

My name is Wes, I'm married with two wonderful children. The nickname BaldNSpicy came from the fact that I have been balding for a (long) while now and spicy for my love of very spicy foods (Thai and extremely hot wings are my favorites).  If eating doesn't bring me near tears and leave me sweating, it's not worth eating.  :-)

Oh, and I'm also known for my doorags.

Since I missed getting out on Saturday to put my mileage to a new high for the week (double digits), I decided I needed to kick this week off right!  I ran my familiar run across the river and to the 31st Street bridge and back.  I ran the 2.12 miles to the bridge, stretched for a 1.5 mins then headed back.  Pace was decent, I think it was about 8:30-8:40 on the way out and a little slower on the way back (closer to 8:55 I think).  I paused for about 45 sec at the 3.2 point, then since I had a goal of running 4+ miles today, I kept going until I noticed the final 1/4mi beep letting me know I could stop.  But I didn't.  I pushed on for the last 0.02mi to the top of the hill.  No pain no gain!  LOL

The miles were tough towards the end, but I can feel myself getting stronger which is encouraging.  The legs still tire easily, though.

I finished off the night with Little Caesar's Pizza, soda, and watching one of my favorite movies of all time - Top Gun.  The worst part of that movie is the lovie dovie part.  The fast forward button comes in very handy.

Nice push to the finish! You'll get the double digits this week.

Top Gun is the best! I should've known you liked it, it was made in the 80s.

Thanks Joe. I missed it by .08 but that's OK because I can have dyslexic moments that make it look like 80. That was a great year...
