June - Riverview 5k  - Bummed I missed signing up for this one. It's one of my favorites!
Sept - Gatorade/Steelers 5k. (Signed up!)
Sept - IKEA Montour Trail Half  (prob not, but leaving it on here)
Sept - The Great Race 10k (My Running 101 goal race)
Nov - Dirt Monster 5mi (Gotta do it again no matter what!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Finish recovering from my injuries and build mileage.  That is all.

Personal:

My name is Wes, I'm married with two wonderful children. The nickname BaldNSpicy came from the fact that I have been balding for a (long) while now and spicy for my love of very spicy foods (Thai and extremely hot wings are my favorites).  If eating doesn't bring me near tears and leave me sweating, it's not worth eating.  :-)

Oh, and I'm also known for my doorags.

I'll be checking for some miles first thing in the morning :)

From Burt on Mon, Aug 09, 2010 at 00:20:23 from 68.225.214.248

Yeah, and if there aren't any, we're bothing coming down to kick your margarine.

Speak for yourself buster. That sounds messy, and slippery, and weird...

From SlowJoe on Mon, Aug 09, 2010 at 11:07:39 from 84.11.148.246

Yeah, you didn't mention what the penalty would be for failure. That should be part of your Sunday post.

From baldnspicy on Mon, Aug 09, 2010 at 15:35:17 from 72.77.119.73

RT - realize that I don't run at 4am, so you'll have to wait until the next day for my posts. Or atleast until after Midnight since I should be back from my runs by then. If not, check the cemetery.

Burt - kick my margarine? Sounds kinda soft, but with all your P90X training, I don't doubt you could kick my whatchamacallit.

Joe - No penalties need to be identified when you have no intention of missing your goals. Just for you, here's my punishment for failure this week: I have to eat a heaping bowl of ice cream. :-)

I thought you were going to turn over a new leaf and be a morning runner. I did 14 miles and still made it to work by 7:00am today.

From baldnspicy on Mon, Aug 09, 2010 at 16:40:32 from 72.77.119.73

Well, I was thinking about it. :-) It's still on my to-do list. The difference between you doing 14 and me doing 14 is that it takes me twice as long. :-p I thought about it at about 5:30am this morning but then just hit the snooze. Today was a work at home day, but the rest of this week, I'll be biking it to work while getting my runs in too. I didn't ride at all last week, so this will be a new experience. I'm hoping that my legs will hold up. They were a little tired yesterday, but feel much better today. I'm shooting for 6 days this week, so we'll see how it goes. I need to get some longer runs in than the 3-4 miles I've been doing during the week.

When I was training for the Tacoma Marathon in '07 I was biking 16 miles to work every day. On 3 of those days I would run 7 miles first. Oh yeah, it was also uphill both ways, and snowing, and I had no shoes, or coat :)

From Steve on Mon, Aug 09, 2010 at 20:02:59 from 71.245.44.189

Good luck with the week!

From baldnspicy on Mon, Aug 09, 2010 at 21:16:31 from 72.77.119.73

RT - Wow, you must have taken the same route my dad did when he walked to school. I hope you were nice and said something kind like, "You're almost there!"

Thanks Steve!!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Aug 09, 2010 at 21:41:38 from 75.196.27.178

Actually, I was going to say that about your 27.5 miles this week. Don't worry Wes, you're almost there :)

From baldnspicy on Mon, Aug 09, 2010 at 22:15:38 from 72.77.119.73

Haha Yes, I'm almost there! I have to save myself for my Wednesday workout, though. It's a 12:00 all-out run on the TM to calculate our V02Max, then from that we'll be given some suggested paces for our different types of runs. I did the test almost a year ago for a fitness eval at the gym. I did OK, but I hope to do much better this time around. In about a month as it gets closer to my birthday, I'll do the fitness eval again to see if my strength, flexibility, etc. have improved from last year.
