Sept - Gatorade/Steelers 5k. (Signed up!)
Sept - IKEA Montour Trail Half  (prob not, but leaving it on here)
Sept - The Great Race 10k (My Running 101 goal race)
Nov - Dirt Monster 5mi (Gotta do it again no matter what!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Finish recovering from my injuries and build mileage.  That is all.

Personal:

My name is Wes, I'm married with two wonderful children. The nickname BaldNSpicy came from the fact that I have been balding for a (long) while now and spicy for my love of very spicy foods (Thai and extremely hot wings are my favorites).  If eating doesn't bring me near tears and leave me sweating, it's not worth eating.  :-)

Oh, and I'm also known for my doorags.

Went out for a nice 9pm run - 42F, drizzly with wind gusts of up to 30mph.  Wind wasn't as much fun, but otherwise, my ideal running weather and in the dark is even better!  Shorts, long sleeve tee, and light cotton gloves. Great run tonight. The first 1/2mi is uphill and I took it easy with the cooler weather and just warming up.  It felt like I was doing about 10:30-10:45 but read an even 5:00 so faster than I had thought or felt.

The rest was somewhat flat with some mild grades.  The last 1/2mi is downhill coming a different way.  I liked the course I took, but I only noticed one maybe 1/4mi where it was blowing with me.  I could tell because my hands started to sweat and I considered taking the gloves off.  Then it started blowing in my face or to my side and I reconsidered.

The last mile or so my (healed) left foot started hurting again.  The downhill pounding at the end didn't help even though I was holding back.  I'll ice it tonight, throw some Tiger Balm on and it should be better tomorrow...I hope!

Nice run. I hope the foot isn't serious. Don't worry about it too much. I still get little phantom pains in my tibia and I've knocked out a few marathons since that injury.

Hope all is well with the foot. Better rub some 'tussin on it for good measure.

That's what Chris Rock would do :)

Nice last split there. We don't have anywhere close to those temperatures yet, still in the 60s for our lows.

I would have died in that weather.

Thanks guys. The foot comes and goes and I've just learned I have to deal with it and take it easy. It's coming...but so is the Dirt Monster.

The weather is nice, but that winter snow may begin in the next week.

Burt, even your prickly self could stand for some freezing weather: http://windowsillcactus.com/cold_hardy_cacti.shtml
