Sept - IKEA Montour Trail Half  (prob not, but leaving it on here)
Sept - The Great Race 10k (My Running 101 goal race)
Nov - Dirt Monster 5mi (Gotta do it again no matter what!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Finish recovering from my injuries and build mileage.  That is all.

Personal:

My name is Wes, I'm married with two wonderful children. The nickname BaldNSpicy came from the fact that I have been balding for a (long) while now and spicy for my love of very spicy foods (Thai and extremely hot wings are my favorites).  If eating doesn't bring me near tears and leave me sweating, it's not worth eating.  :-)

Oh, and I'm also known for my doorags.

Walked 3mi to/from work

Today, procrastination worked to my benefit again.  It was pouring as I walked to work this morning but by the time 5pm rolled around, I still hadn't gotten to the gym yet, so I headed down.  The rain had stopped so I ran outside at a nice comfortable pace.  My gait felt uncomfortable/awkward - not sure what's up with that.  I felt like I was just learning to run again.  Guess that's what a week or so off of running will do to you.  Curse you, work!

Beautiful running weather:  overcast and about 54 degrees.   Just ran a comfortable pace around downtown, Garmin on but just showing time of day, HR and distance.  Traffic was bad so I headed to the square near work that's exactly a mile around on the inner loop.  No traffic to worry about since I don't cross any streets so I was able to just cruise and enjoy the run. Ended up running about an 8:20 pace which surprised me.  Thought it was closer to 9:00.  HR was 156-159 most of the time.  Once I get into the 160s, that's when I feel like I'm really working and would have a hard time maintaining that for a long distance.  When I hit 170-172 (highest I've seen yet) is when I'm hitting my limit.  Supposedly, my max HR is 180...not sure I'll ever get there. If I do, I predict my RoadID will pay for itself.  lol

I'll have that song stuck in my head for the rest of the day, thank you much.

I tried to get it on there, but they banned it since it was "inappropriate." Shesh!

Funny thing is that my daughter's cell # is XXX-867-XXXX (I'm not posting the real number to protect her from y'all filling her head with falsehoods about me. She still thinks I'm perfect...most of the time)

We tried to get 867-5309 but, of course, it's not available. When the song first came out and they pulled the variations of the number (or the owners requested new numbers from all the people trying out the number), I doubt they'd ever put them back in circulation. We tried though.

Burt, I can post the link to The Rain again if you need something to replace it with. Or, you can just listen to Telephone which seems to be my daughter's favorite song of the week. I hate that song. It was the last song she played on the way to seminary the other day and it was stuck in my head until I went to work and could listen to my music on my walk in. I have banned her from playing it unless she has headphones in.

The song that I've banned my kids from singing is "Tonight's gonna be a good good night..." Then my wife put it as her ringback tone. GRRR!!!
