Came down to Salt Lake for a family visit and decided to try out this distance and get an idea of where my winter fitness stands. I got my butt kicked! No real speed training at this distance and some weeks off really showed.
A bit windy, but a great day for a run. I felt like I could run around 5:37 pace so I held 5:35 almost exactly the first 4 miles with Dennis and Jamal breaking the wind for us. Good pacing but I felt like I could not breath! I let off to just under a 6 minute pace for the rest of the race, which left me feeling like crap for the whole race but let me recover. Average about 5:48 pace. Not the way any decent runner runs a race! It was a good run to gauge where my threshold currently is. Now its time to get some training in! |
