Nice evening run in Ft Lauderdale. Way sore today starting out, probably from the tempo run yesterday. Or the first day of cross country skiing this year. Whatever it was, I almost gave up on this run, but after ten miles it faded away.
Yesterday skiing across the base of Mt Elmer I caught up to two guys from the Utah Avalanche Center skinning up towards Tony Grove on split skis. Pretty awesome guys decked out in enough gear to cross Antarctica, airbags, beacons, shovels etc. One of them said they had noticed my tracks across the lake and wondered who was ambitious enough to be up there already. They were digging avalanche pits along the North slopes and showed me some pics of three slides already. I was struck again how almost every time I get out on some trip in the mountains I meet some of the coolest people.
