Lift early morning at the gym and five on the treadmill at 10mph.

Ran the Rattlesnake trail up to Box Elder Peak of the Wellsvilles in the afternoon, a four mile trail gaining 4,000 feet. Since the snow was two feet deep and I had ski gear on my back it took almost two hours to gain the peak. Skiid the east face down and joined Coldwater trail to run back. Just an amazing day.

Wouldn't skinning up been easier?! :-)

Most of the time. :-) I need some climbing strength and I can't stand the gym so hard hiking is what I'll try. Plus it's nearly impossible to ski the Wellsvilles on cross country skis. When there is more snow so all the brush is covered it will be doable. After today it will be awesome, but perfect conditions for avalanche. The Wellsvilles, particularly Box Elder and Cone peaks, are considered by many to be the steepest slopes in the US. It's insane fun to downhill ski.

I've heard that the Wellsville range is the steepest range in North America.

Our snowpack in the central wasatch isn't so great yet. Hopefully a couple more good winter storms and it will start to setup in terms of depth (and less avalanche risk).

We need to get out for a ski tour one day this winter.
