I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

Day off, so I just ran a bit to check out something with my stride I've been curious about.  Call it a bodywork session.  Supposed to be "resting up" for the one mile time trial tomorrow.  The whole thing is making me so angry that I might just run it really fast because I'm mad.  I'm angry because I don't see what it has to do with marathon training, and I don't want to waste my time.  I want to run a long run tomorrow.

When I got back into my car after my run, there were wasps inside my car.  At least three of them!  They were just sitting there looking at me, but not saying much.  I am allergic to most wasps, so I asked them to get out, then opened the doors.  They just sat there.  I finally had to take off my shoe, hold it out, and let them get onto it, one at a time.  I then flicked them outside on my shoe.  I hope I didn't wreck their day, but I just didn't want to drive them around.

Go take that anger and pound it into the pavement or track or whatever tomorrow morning. It'll be fun for you to know how fast you can run a mile.

Is the group your working with geared toward marathon training or are they just more of a general running group while you're training for a marathon? If it's the latter, you might want to ditch them and do your own thing instead.

Its a marathon group, Carolyn. They've successfully trained many many marathoners. So, I guess there is some reason to trust them. I just don't get it.

After running your time trial tomorrow, your legs will think that running at MP is a breeze!

Have fun and let it fly!

Auntie ... VO2 max workouts just help guide you in how fast your turnover is ... kind of like the Yasso 800s. They don't directly tie to your marathon, but I have a friend who estimated my marathon finish time by how I fast I can run a 400 -- and he was actually closer than any of the other running calculators and my Yasso 800s. It was weird! And at the time I did not want to believe him, because I really wanted to believe I could run a 3:25 or so. In part, that is why I am training for shorter distances for a while ... to see if I can build a little leg speed before trying the marathon again.

I hope it goes well today!!
