I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

I'm a 52 year old mom of two ex homeschooled teenagers. They both think I'm nuts.

Track workout!  Some warm up running, exercises, 2X200 strides, then 5X800M at 5K pace.  My splits were 3:30, 3:41, 3:42, 3:38, and 3:42.  The first one was way too fast, but it was really fun!  I knew after the first 400 that I was going too fast, but it was too much fun to stop, so I just went for it and resolved to make the next one slower.  I am very undisciplined at 5am.

Anyway, super fun workout, and another beautiful morning.

On Saturday, we have a 1 mile time trial!  What?

Those are some pretty speedy times you've got there!

A one-mile time trial, eh? Not exactly a long run, but interesting nonetheless. I've wondered for a while how fast I could run a mile if I ran it all out, but I haven't had the guts to try it.

Yeah, I really don't get it with the time trial, either. Now that my body is literally begging for long runs, we don't do them anymore? Well, a lesson in trust for me. I joined this group because I didn't know how to train for a marathon, so I'll not question it, weird as it gets!

I really don't even know what time to shoot for on the 1 mile. Maybe 6:40.

6:40! you are so awesom! Vroom!!!

This maybe a realllly dumb question but I was wondering does garmin measure out the meters for you or do you just go off the track?

From auntieem on Fri, Aug 21, 2009 at 12:38:43 from 67.182.145.8

I just use the track, and Garmin keeps track of miles, but you must be able to switch the mileage on Garmin to meters.

Oh yeah I forgot I could do that!
