I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

20 mile run is done.  I'm not really jumping up and down impressed with myself, but I rarely am anyway, and I'm trying to keep it positive.  On the good side:

1.  I ran farther than I ever ran.

2.  My feet and legs feel great!

3.  My MP miles were all on pace, all 10 of 'em.

4.  Its done.

5.  I can wear my toe ring with no ill effect.

6.  Ice baths don't kill you; they kinda feel good.

One the other side (the side that could use improvement - the side with potential!):

1.  At mile 17, I just had no oxygen left.  Asthma/shmasma, or whatever.  Last three splits were bad.

2.   Orange Gatorade looks really good, but makes you throw up.

3.  My overall time was nothin' special; don't really see how I can run a marathon like this.

Going for a really pretty bike ride tomorrow- one of my favorites!  Down to Edison and pop in at a favorite gallery, hopefully eat something yummy, and home 'round the big loop through Alger (site of the famous Alger shooting spree!)  The "running" assignment is 4 easy, so the bike ride fits into my Sunday.

Congratulations! You did better than me, I never ran 10 MP miles ... only got up to 8 (maybe why I did not really hit my target pace!).

Good job, enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Nice job! It must feel good to get that first one done, and you did it so well. 10 miles at MP! What a great run. You're very strong! Enjoy your ride tomorrow...

Wow the big 20! you are awesome! Great job doing 10 MP miles--I love the way orange powerade tastes but you are right sometimes it makes me want to barf...especially when warm!

I'm way impressed that you got 10 MP miles in your first 20 miler! That is quite an accomplishment.

Well done, my friend! Just remember, this is *training*, not a rehearsal. A few days rest and the work you did in this run will bear fruit. Money in the bank-nice deposit!

Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement! I really don't feel all that happy about the run, but I hope that it did some good.

Thanks, Sno, for the reminder that this is not a rehearsal. I will remember that.
