I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

It was really hard to get to the track by 5:00 this morning!  Barely made it.  For some reason, the legs are really, really tired.  We warmed up, did strides, then did the leg exhausting workout, then ran 4 more miles on tired legs.  We got to run that last 4 on trails, but the 3/4 of a mile at the end getting back to the track is uphill!  A pretty good hill too.  I made it running all the way up the hill, yeah!  Then I took my time with ab work and stretching in the early morning sun on the fake grass infield.  Treated myself to a good breakfast at the food coop on the way home.

Rest day tomorrow will feel pretty good.  If I do anything, it will be in water.

Good for you for dragging yourself out of bed early. You deserved that good breakfast.

I'm impressed that you were able to make it to a track at 5 am. I can get up to run out my front door at 5 am, but if a car is involved, I just can't make myself do it.

Sounds like an awesome workout. I look forward to trying speed work someday. Once I get more mileage under my belt.

By the way, I love your photo! I'm a skier too - - honestly, while I'm not great at it, I think it is my favorite sport of all. I miss it every summer. Unfortunately, where I live the skiing isn't so hot, but we usually make it out West once each season. My favorite ski place is Big Sky (so far).

Skiing is our all family sport. We are all snow nuts. Its nice to have something that we all love, so we are up at the mountain every single winter weekend!

Great track work out!
