You are looking good Steve. A 3:33 1200 is pretty darn fast. I think you could smoke a fast 5K right now if you wanted to. Are you going to run Magna 5K on Saturday? I will be there but only to pace my son James and help him set a new PR.
Masterhunter, you seemed interested in the reaction to your photos. Let me tell you what mine was. Oh, he's a real person. I was expecting He-Man. You are taller & thinner that I expected. (Both of which I envy you.) I would probably come up to your elbow if I was standing next to you.
Didn't mean it in a negative way at all. But I think Lybi hit it right on the head. I don't know what I really envisioned you to look like... But some sort of "Masterhunter" so to speak!

Steve:
First - you do not need to "build up" to 60 miles a week. I have given this some thought - you should never run less than 60 miles a week just for health reasons. 60 miles a week for you produces sufficient quantities of some natural anti-depressant (endorphines?) that makes your mind work better. Back off the pace if you are tired, run 10:00 pace if you are out of shape, but always get through the distance. This urge to run in the store is an indicator that your body is desperately trying to compensate for the lack of mileage this week to keep you healthy.
On another subject - I strongly recommend that you run Magna. Yellowstone is long ways away and gas is expensive. If I were you I would not leave without earning some gas money first. You will have to race Trever Ball for first, I do not know what kind of shape he is in, but he would have to work to beat you even if he is on top of the game. You are very well tapered for this 5 K, I think you can run 14:45 on that course quite easily. It would be a shame to miss it. It would be a great boost of confidence - Teren ran in in 14:45 last year. Alone and into a headwind the first 2 miles, but beating Teren's time under any circumstances would be a great confidence boost for you that will help you throughout the year.
Ted and I can pick you up at your house, then Kim can meet you at the race, it is only a small detour, and you'll be going by 9 AM. Call Demetrio 288-9555 and ask him for a comp, I am sure he'd be glad to do it, especially after your recent success.

Steve,
It would be great to see you run well at the 5K and win some more money. However, if it is going to cause issues with your schedule or family then just go and enjoy Yellowstone. You should be able to get some great relaxing, beautiful runs in up at Yellowstone. I think James can run sub 20:00 on that course if he has a good day, otherwise low 20 something. Getting faster all of the time.
Dude, relax and enjoy the weekend. Just my two cents. Personally, I'm doing a nice easy trail run followed by ultimate frisbee on Saturday, and a little backpack trip later in the weekend. After so much intense training and racing my mind, body, and soul needs rejuvenation.
I am with Paul on this one, and my weekend looks about the same as his.
