Single: Today I felt good again. I managed almost 8-hrs sleep and that always helps. Also, though it was cooler in the morning and the Weather Channel said 26F windchill with 10mph winds it did not feel that bad. I ran out to the new one mile marker and kept the pace easy to the two mile marker then I started my MP miles. The first is slight up then two almost all down then two rollers. Overall, I was happy with the perceived effort. I’m still thinking that 2:35 pace feels more like my half marathon effort than full but I’m hoping the adrenaline of the day will help compensate for that some. Then I spent the rest of the day with family and running errands. Now I’m in work for a couple hours but then hopefully another full night’s sleep. Mi 13-T2 Avg. 7:02 HR 159

Nice effort and hitting the target pace is great. I know 2:35 seems tough, but giving our all is the only thing we can find out if we have that extra kick and race make. The last few miles I'm sure is were the training comes in. I just hope I can keep up with you since I'm always a slow starter. Just don't wait for me, and you just go for it.

Kory, Just promise that if I do anything stupid, that when you declare me roadkill at mile 18 or something you kick me in the head and remind me of it every chance you get... I've had a tendency of going out to fast. I think I'm going to carry the splits with me and try and stick to them as much as possible. By the way I'm going to e-mail you the "hand out" I told you about now...

From wheakory on Sun, Apr 13, 2008 at 00:19:43

I think we need to wear the handout splits, because that will keep us focused. The worst thing in the world is going out too fast, and then we will be roadkill. I think our best chance is to be right on the target pace and not go too extreme below each mile especially on the downhill where it feels so easy, because early fast miles can kill us at the end.

I promise I will hang with you as long as I can, and I think that will help, because we can keep each other in check for pace.

If your roadkill I'm going to stay right with you.

Oh, I plan on just doing 30 miles this week, just 6 miles per day. On Wednesday a race simulation with 3 miles at MP. Just thought I would share my thoughts for this week. I will definitely get plenty of rest.

Good luck on your work this week and try to get rest when you can.

From Adam RW on Sun, Apr 13, 2008 at 00:34:08

Kory, I think we both need a course in positive thinking. Here you are worried about hanging with me and I feel the same about you. I think we both just need to realize we have put in the work and we can do this thing. My plan for the week is to run 33 miles, 33 is my lucky number. I will take Thur off, Fri I will do 2-4 miles on the track with 1 mi at pace. I've done this every marathon it is my mental calibration... Have a great week!

Your right enough talking about it, and lets by positive and do it.
