11 mile run starting out at 5:10 a.m. with Elaine for 5 very easy on Skyline to gate and back. Then another 6 miles along Vine and up Middle Canyon a mile and back home. A nice morning and a day off from work.
Watched the Boston Marathon coverage on Universal Sports. Channel 5-2 (KSL) opted to lop off the first 1/2 hour and not show the Elite Women's start just to show a stupid info-mercial. I couldn't believe it! Tracked a few bloggers and other runners on the B.A.A. site. Everyone I knew of did very well. Looked to be an almost perfect day. A new course record at Boston in 2:05:52 (Wow!) by Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot (not to be confused with 4x winner Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot, almost the same name, but a different dude). Both the Men's Wheelchair and the Women's Marathon went right down to the wire! The women always have a more exciting race. Ryan Hall was 4th in 2:08:47 and Meb Keflezighi 5th, in 2:09:26, both of the U.S.A. 2 of the top 5 and 3 of the top 10 were Americans. Rohatinsky must have dropped out past half way. |

| 20 miles this morning. Starting with at 5K Fun Run for the Special Olympics fundraiser in 22:22, a 7:13 average pace. Splits were:7:38, 6:58, and 6:42. 5th place overall of 100+ runners. Then I headed up Smelter Road and turned around at 6.5 miles. Then back down Droubay Road through Erda into Lakepoint. Headed to Stansbury along the road above Adobe Rock and finished at the Benson Mill church. Ran a pretty easy pace, but still struggled some the last 2 or 3 miles. 2:53:31 total time, including the 5K. Nice day, a bit chilly waiting for the race to begin. Long sleeves were too much for the last 5 or 6 miles. A good effort overall. Second consecutive 60 mile week. |
