Personal:

Married for 44 years to a wonderful and supportive wife. She's run 2 marathons herself in our earlier years so that helps.  4 boys, all married, and 10 grandchildren.  2 sons are runners. I celebrated 39 years of running madness, insanity, or at least OCD, on August 23rd, 2021.

Resting today and tomorrow for Snow Canyon 1/2 on Saturday. Legs feel a bit tired from 2 days of trail running. Not quite used to that. . Skipped going to the gym, walked the dog 3x today instead.

Traveled to Ivins.

Snow Canyon 1/2 Marathon. What a fantastic day for a gorgeous run through Snow Canyon. Felt strong throughout the entire race. Hoped to run 1:45 or better, so I started well behind the 1:45 American Flyers pace team. I was about 50 - 75 yards behind them through about 3 miles. Gradually caught up to them by mile 4. Passed them but fully expected them to catch back up going down the steeper portions of Snow Canyon where I needed to be careful, because of my ITB issue not being totally resolved. It was feeling okay and by mile 6 noticed I was now on pace for even a 1:40 if I could just hold it, but I could see no sign of the 1:40 pace team. Felt stronger still moving along the Snow Canyon Parkway path and through Entrada, passed a lot of folks, but still no sign of that 1:40 pacing team. Down Lava Flow Drive and then finally after turning towards the high school track, I saw them and caught up while nearing the final turn on the track. Nice job, Kelli, keeping that pace team right at pace. They did a fabulous job!! Finished in 1:39:29, for 13.2 miles, per my Garmin, and feeling great!! 4th place of 42 in M 55-59 division. 144 of 585 overall men. 202 of 1541 overall field.

No running.  Went to the gym at 5:00 a.m.  and they weren't open.  Waited 10 minutes and went home and back to bed.  Returned to the gym in the evening at 6:15 p.m. for 60 minutes.  20 minutes elliptical, 20 minutes upright stationary cycling, 10 minutes on the StairMaster for 82 floors, 10 minutes on recumbent cycle.

9:30 p.m. Gold's Gym in St. George. 3x15x7 machines. Upper body. 15 minutes easy recumbent cycling.

10:30 a.m. 10 mile run from Middleton to Ivins along the new Red Cliffs Parkway path and Snow Canyon Parkway path. 1:32:22. Sunny but a chilly breeze in places. 47 degrees. We left Tooele yesterday with a foot of snow on the ground, so I'll take this any day!

Cold Turkey 6k City Creek Canyon Run. 9:00 a.m. 3.72 miles, official distance, 3.86 by Garmin. 27:46, 7:12 AP. 2nd Place M55-59 division. Tweaked my left hammy at about 3.25 miles. Hopefully not a repeat of a couple of years ago. A nice sunny morning. Chilly at first, but very nice throughout and afterwards. About a minute faster than last year.

10:00 a.m. 10 mile loop run in 1:35:00 from the Ivins house up through Kayenta and back via Old Highway 91 and 400 South. Hamstring feeling okay. Nice clear and sunny day. 55 degrees starting out. Right hip a bit sore. Half hour in the hot tub and feeling better.
