I was feeling good good today. I got plenty of rest and plenty of food however that was my downfall. I ate too much too close to the race. During the the race I could feel my lungs not being able to expand and breath.

Our whole team got out pretty quick it was a perfect start and then their was a false start. The 2nd start was still really good, but not quite as perfect. Murphy has had the BEST advice pre-meets this year. Just spot-on just what I need to hear stuff. Once we got up the first hill I was in the top 30 probably. We started in between Bingham and Copper Hills so granted I raced very physically. Especially the first half mile. Physical is the right word!

The first mile I ran really well. I got really tired though. I didn't think I would have to be utilized as a scoring runner. At about 1.5 I passed Chase going up the hill on the south side of the park. At that point I knew I had to run an amazing race to pull of a 3rd or 4th place finish. For the rest of the race I was just trying to hang on to Brian Nelson of CH. I couldn't stay with him.

The 3rd mile I was just trying to hang on and not blow it. Once I hit the track I took a look back and I was alone. I thought there was a Bingham runner right behind me but he wasnt there. So from there I looked forward and gave it everything I had left. I wasn't able to stay with the pack that I ran with most of the race but we still overall as a team had a good race.

It was a good day.

You should look at the results from Nike Southwest last year Ashton. We beat a LOT of teams that did better than us at state including Desert Hills, Lone Peak, and Timpanogos.

The reason is that you guys trained hard and kept up your intensity all the way through November. Lots of teams don't. Lot's of teams let down after state.

We won't!

Good goals, I like them. Good job stepping up for the team today!

Nice job Ashton. You gave it your all.

Keep the pedal down for the next couple weeks. Not everyone will keep working hard - and you'll jump ahead of them. Good list of goals moving forward.
