Another cold and rainy day in DC. I think I'm getting a cold so decided to metro to work. After work I was feeling better and determined to "sweat out" the cold, so I ran to the gym, did a 1-hour spin class, and ran home in the rain. Right shin hurt and felt tight, but taking walking breaks helped. Stretched really well afterwards and did lots of strengthening exercises.

I did that alot last year on saturdays. Id run at 5 am for 10+ miles then do a 1 hour spin class and then finish with 3 more miles. Its hard to transition huh? I like your new photo! Was that before your jaw incident?

I actually don't find the transition difficult at all... I like it!

The photo is from the Veteran's Day 10k, two weeks after the jaw accident, you can see the scar and my jaw was wired shut, yet I got a PR... It reminds me of how tough I am! :)

True that, you are one tough cookie! You will kick the crap out of your BQ goals and I dont feel like its bragging when you say stuff like that! Its good to remind your self of your goals and achievements. Thats why this blog is great, because before a race you can go back and look at all your progress where your mind always tells you you havnt done enough!

Maybe the secret to PRing is a liquid diet...

Hey its Mike! How the heck are you? Are you back in force now or still home?

Good Morning! Did my answers to your question make sense? There is one more thing that can help you with your shin splints, but i am at work right now so i will tell you later :).

One thing about your shins is you could try wrapping it. What i would do is get a glue stick and some cohesive bandage and the leg i am getting the shin splints i would take the glue stick place it on the side the shin splint is on and wrap it with the bandage. Not too tight but enough so it would stop the the muscle from moving away from the bone. It will take a few tries but once you get it right i think your leg will feel better. I hope this makes sense. Good luck!
