A beautiful and cold morning in DC - 26 degrees - brrrrrrr. Met up with Tricia, Trick, and Greg R for a quick track workout, but not really. We just did a few laps around to warm up, and then we timed each other on a 400 meter sprint and an 800 meter sprint. I think I did 1:26 in the 400 meters and 3:37 on the 800 meters. I want to see if I improve in the next month or so. I heard about this Yasso workout to predict your marathon time: do 4 800-meter workouts with one lap to cool down in between, and average the times. If you average 3 minutes 30 seconds, it translates to a 3 hour 30 minutes marathon, if you average 4 minutes 10 seconds, you'll run a 4 hour 10 minute marathon, etc. We ran a total of 3 miles on the track, and then I ran home from there, after a quick stop at the Latin American store to pick up some dulce de leche to make ice cream - yummm! I felt pretty tired on the way - so tired that I went into the men's bathroom at the Lincoln Memorial. I didn't realize until I came out and saw the urinals (there was nobody there thank goodness!) and was soooooo embarrassed! This woman saw me and just kept laughing at me. Oh well... Didn't make it all the way home, didn't want to over-do it, so I got on the metro at Smithsonian for some 5 miles more. A good day overall. Shins hurt but not too bad. Did strengthening and stretching.

I lo-o-o-o-o-oved dulce de leche in Spain. Sometimes I would put it in the freezer, then let it thaw out 'til it was drinkable. MMMMM-mmmmm!!! Thanks for the memory.

And thanks for the laugh. I can't believe no one else was in there! You got so lucky. LOL!!!!

ok...time to start getting official about logging bike/swim distances. how did you split your blog like this??

From Lucia on Mon, Jan 26, 2009 at 14:25:17

Dulce de leche rools!

Ben, you should ask Sasha if you should change your blog to the triathlete... The problem is, if you log your bike or swim miles, it doesn't add up your running miles for the week, or shows them in the mileage board... that's why even though I switched to the triathlete blog mode, I've only been logging my running miles. Bummer!

hmmm...maybe i'll just stick to my current format. which 1/2 ironman are you considering? i'm seriously thinking of the one in Morgantown...

From Lucia on Mon, Jan 26, 2009 at 14:34:56

When is the one in Morgantown? I don't think I'll do a 1/2 ironman until next year... this year I'll concentrate in qualifying for Boston, improving my biking and swimming skills, and school... I'll probably do a shorter triathlon but not a 1/2 ironman yet... I'll go crew for you or cheer you on though!

Dulce de leche does rule, but you know what I was thinking of? Leche con turron. Now that was a treat. I also like the Spanish horchata. It tasted more almondy and less cinamonny than the horchata sold here at the local AM/PM (which also rules.)

They all rule!

Hey, Camille has the same set up as you, and she gets on the mileage board.

From Lucia on Mon, Jan 26, 2009 at 15:30:27

Sweets rule :)

It looks like I can get on the mileage board unless I log biking AND running miles on the same day - that's when they don't get counted... I'll ask her if that's the case for her as well...

I see. That's a glitch in the bug, as my friend used to say.

Rocket, I see your spelling has improved, le rools.
