Ran during lunch break on the C&O canal to Fletcher's - went slow for the 3 miles there, then picked up the pace for 2 miles on the way back - I felt like I was flying on the trail, but my splits weren't so good: 8:03 and 8:07... I need to get faster! Total running time was 51 and change. 48 degrees out and sunny! Shorts and a tank top, yeah! The canal was partly frozen over though, cause it still gets freezing at night. Let's hope it doesn't get too cold in the next few days - or that it snows lots! One or the other :)

Shins were ok the 1st mile, then they hurt a bit so I ran the special way (more landing on the ball of the feet) and felt better. The last 3 miles almost didn't hurt at all. Overall they hurt a lot less than yesterday. What a mistery!

Biked to school and home.

Happy Monday!

Nice run, I remember running along that same trail last March. Hope the shins keep getting better.

Sounds like your on your way back to the fast track. Great splits on the trail. And great temps to be running. Tonight I will be running in the snow I am sure. No singlet for me yet. Maybe shorts though.:)

Does your company have showers? I wish mine did. I would totally work out more during work hours.

From Lucia on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 15:05:06

Thank you my friends!

Jeff after running in Idaho you'll feel like in the tropics out here!

Mark, do you wear something on your shoes so you don't slip, do you put screws or use Yaktrax?

Burt, yes I'm very lucky, we have one shower for guys and one for girls, and only one other girl runs at lunch sometimes. It's really nice to be able to take a break and work out - I usually come to work early and leave late anyway, so they don't mind if I take a slightly longer lunch...

Your own personal bathroom in your office, and with shower, talking about lucky.

Don't push your pace for another few days, give your shins a chance to get completely well.

From Kelli on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 18:39:52

I think those are good splits, what are you talking about??? They are speedy! Glad the shins are beginning to cooperate!

Since when is 48 tank top weather??? You are crazy!

From Burt on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 19:39:29

Central park es donde todos los locos matan y violan a las mujeres que van de solas. Trae cuchillo, pistola, y mace.

From Roberto on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 19:53:54

The park is always full of runners and safe as long as you don't run at 2 in the morning alone I think burt is being over protective don't show up here like Rambo LOL

I only know what I see in the movies.

Rocket, I always run with Maze, especially when alone. I have never mazed a person, just dogs, but, better to have some defense.

Stay Kool, faster and fast, B of BS Rools out

From Lucia on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 22:47:13

Burt you crack me up! I live in a pretty shady area of DC so I often carry maze with me... However I keep proving over and over that I am the biggest danger to myself!

From huans32 on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 23:46:39

Nope no screws or anything. Actually there wasnt much snow on the ground where I was running so it was rather nice. Just windy tonight. Careful out there running or biking for that matter.

I have had fun reading your blog, you seem totally cool. Keep workin toward the Boston goal. My first marathon was ran at a 4:12, I finally qualified this year. You will get there.
