Blehhhhh
No running - very swollen left knee caused by... hang on.... this one is for real, no joke... ANOTHER bike accident.
Yup. This time a lot less serious, and for a good reason. Yesterday, we went out past Alexandria on the Mt. Vernon trail, made it to Mt Vernon and were on the way back to the car when a group of pedestrians was walking up the hill on my side of the bike path while I was going downhill... Tried to break and move further to the right but got off trail, tried to get back on, something didn't work out, and I fell. It seems my helmet hit the ground first, protecting my forehead, and then my nose and my chin sort-of slid on the dirt. I think I hit the dirt and not the pavement, so it was softer... My left knee did hit the pavement very hard, it was so swallen, scary. But nothing seemed to be broken - and thankfully Will was with me to hug me and help me feel better. We biked about 1.5 miles to his car and went home to ice and laugh. No trips to the hospital this time, thankfully. Boy am I going to get sooooo many jokes from my co-workers tomorrow!

I hope all of you readers always wear a helmet, even if you're not as clumsy as me.

So now my left knee has a big bruise and my right leg has a swollen tendon above the ankle bone. The swimming pool is calling...

Lucia, I'm trying not to laugh...but the picture you painted is just too funny... sorry. You are not the only clumsy one... my husband has joked many times that I need to run with a helmet because I have fallen so much.

I hope you get feeling better soon, have fun swimming :)

From Eric Day on Sun, Feb 22, 2009 at 20:56:18

Lucia, you need to throw aways that injury magnet of yours. =)

Hope you feel better and get well soon.

Take care.

From Walter on Sun, Feb 22, 2009 at 23:01:30

Lucia, there is a trail in Big Cottonwood Canyon that I yet to defeat. It has broken my handlebars, popped at least 3 of my tires, sent me head first over my handlebars into the rocky soil with a broken helmet and some bruises. I will kick its rocky butt one day. youll see.

Be carefull! Everytime you make plans to come west you decide to venture into a treacherous wreck of some sort. you are not 20 anymore (sounding like your dad?) take it easy.

From montelepsy on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 08:38:03

Did you break a mirror? Anger some gypises? What's going on?

From montelepsy on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 08:39:26

You may want to look and see if they make swim helmets...

From Burt on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 12:09:01

Ay pobrecita! That hurts just thinking about it. Glad you're all right.

From Lucia on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 12:16:50

Laugh away, Lori! I know I did!

Burt please, please stop playing with your Lucia voodoo doll, I beg you!

Mike, believe it or not I have hit my head pretty hard in the swimming pool. Hard to believe, I know.

Walter, thank you for reminding me that I am old :P

Eric, maybe the stars were aligned and I *had to* fall so that you could have a good race... so thank me :)

From montelepsy on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 12:20:52

Come to think of it, I have too. With the dreaded backstroke.

From rocinante on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 14:53:28

From Burt on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 15:18:28

Woah! Did you just get a comment from the famous French-Italian singer-songwriter Richard Cocciante?

From rocinante on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 15:22:29

Spot on Burt - here's my photo!

LOL! Good one.

From Lucia on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 16:34:09

Ewwwwwww Burt!!!

From rocinante on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 16:34:20

From Lucia on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 16:35:49

From rocinante on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 16:52:36

http://www.airquality.utah.gov/logan.html

From Burt on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 16:55:14

Hey, montelepsy has done all the studies and has all the stats of pee concentrations in public swimming pools.

From Marion on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 17:26:35

I think it is a sign from God- you may need to stay away from the bikes! Maybe He intended you to be a swimmer ;) Have you ever noticed any gills?

From Brent on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 20:49:38

Rocket, clipless pedals hey? For all the extra power, falls will happen, broken clavical, skinned knees, broken and bent bike parts. Biking as with running, has its skuffs and bruises.
