Hiked the 5.5-mile Little Devil's Stairs loop in Shenandoah National Park with the handsomest, most wonderful hiking mate a girl could ever have: the unstoppable Pepper! Of course, his partner Aaron came with us as well.

Now if you think you've seen a good-looking dog, think again! I can guarantee that you haven't seen anything quite like Pepper. He is not only a looker, but also a great climber. The first 2 miles of the trail were quite steep and we had to climb some pretty difficult rocks!

It was a beautiful day with great company. Now I'm ready for a week of swimming, aqua jogging, and biking. Giddy up!

Feeling completely drained of energy today. Called in sick at work cause I literally couldn't get out of bed. I slept in, but still feel very tired, dizzy, and have a headache... I wonder if it could be that I'm allergic to bees? I got stang twice yesterday, but it seems the effects should be gone by now... Managed to get up, dressed, and go to the swimming pool for an hour, but did not have a good workout. Somebody on the blog suggested I should increase my protein intake and I think that may be true - so I went to the supermarket and got some tofu, tempeh, and made an egg scramble. I also need to be better at taking my multi-vitamin every day, and put some flaxseed oil in my food every day. I'm getting really itchy to run. I started running on the shallow part of the pool and it feels great! Less than 30 days to go!!!

Feeling better today, but have a rash in my stomach and back. Crazy how a little insect sting can affect such a big person so much!

Biked to work and back, spent 1 hour in the pool, 30 min swimming, 30 min aqua jogging. I don't use the belt at all any more ;)

26 days!!!

I've been thinking of which race to run. I'm in between the California International Marathon in Sacramento, the Las Vegas Marathon, and the PF Chang marathon in Phoenix. My idea is to attept at either CIM or LVM (both December 7), and then if I can't qualify then, I still have 5 weeks till Phoenix... I heard the LVM is hilly, while the CIM is flat and has a high percentage of Boston-qualifiers... while Sacramento is not a city that excites me much, I do have friends there and it's not far from the California mountains and fun areas... Something to look forward to!

Survived my first day at the gym!!! I was in for 1 hour, 45 minutes in the elliptical, 15 minutes the bike. Biked to work and back, and to Rosslyn at lunch, so I got 2 hours of exercise total.

So, now that I have a gym membership, the plan is to do one hour at the gym and one hour at the pool every day, or whenever I can.

Taking a couple of forced days off - sometimes you have to be there for your friends...

I decided (realized) that as many of you were pointing out, I should not run a marathon in December, but instead postpone it as much as possible to give my leg the best chance to heal and to have more time to get faster. So, I'll be running the PF Chang's Rock and Roll marathon in Phoenix, January 18, and hopefully will then have the chance to meet some of you fellow bloggers out there.

24.5 days and counting...

Volunteered in the morning with KEEN - playing with kids with disabilities in the swimming pool. I suppose that's a bit of exercise, but not really. Lots of fun though. I played with Matthew, what a sweet kid. Loved it.

Went boating in the Potomac that afternoon with my friend Mike - very hot day!

Went home and walked my neighbor's dog, Malcolm. What a sweet dog! He's no Pepper, but still is a very good looking dog. That's all the exercise I got. Not good.
