Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Another workout today.  Target was 2x2 miles at 6:52 pace with a .5 mile recovery in between at 8:09.  Went better than that.  Went and ran in Paul's Valley which is more or less flat.

2 mile warmup 8:55, 8:54

2 mile tempo 6:52, 6:47

.5 recovery in 4:05(8:10 pace)

2 mile tempo 6:38, 6:42

2 mile cooldown 8:34, 8:19

7:45 overall average pace.

Felt strong the whole time, although the last mile of the second tempo I was definitely feeling it and got ever so slightly nauseated in the last quarter mile.

One circuit of strength drills.

So, two weeks of eating as much as I want as long as it is healthy, which equated to a lot more food and a lot more energy, and the verdict on the scale is....  no change whatsoever.  Haven't gained, haven't lost, but definitely have been feeling better.  I will stick to eating this way.  I'm not hungry and honestly am not missing the junk much.

Tough workout today, but awesome job!

For me, healthy eating is the hardest part of healthy living. I just find that as long as I am paying attention to what I eat and not eating out of boredom or because it's there (and I do both of those things), I can keep things pretty well under control.

I'm glad that your changes in diet have resulted in good things!

Wow, sick pace on the tempo miles. Glad to see your foot must be better!

WOW! AWESOME tempo miles! So fast and STRONG!!!

Hooray for the healthy eating! You hardly weigh anything. May I ask how tall you are?

Nice tempo miles!! The healthy eating must be positively effecting your running too! That is inspiring to hear how much better you feel. I love eating healthy too although I don't always do it.

Agreed. Those tempo splits are the shizzle. (whatever that means.)

Great run April. I have noticed too (I knew we were tuning in together) that I probably wasn't eating much. I ate lots in California and wasn't even tired considering all the walking around too. when I got back I started cutting back again and voila, not as much energy, so I am following the April plan since I didn't gain weight on vacation eating tons more. Thanks and may we both eat tons of nutritiously packed running food.

yah how do you ever weigh so little? I am 122 and 5 ft 4. Still got a blubbery tummy.

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 21:53:46 from 205.172.12.229

Well I way plenty for the midget that I am--5'1" and that is pushing it up a quarter inch or so. Very short and very short legged! Oh, and I have a little blubby on my tummy from baby that will never go away--you can't see it in clothes but you won't ever see me running in just a sportsbra! Toast to a hearty appetite and lots of healthy food! Screw the calorie restriction stuff it doesn't work for me!

April ~ You're 2.25 inches taller than me. My legs are shorter than that of a 10 yr old. My weights have stayed around 102 when I'm at the peak of training. When I wasn't eating healthy (over the holidays and low mileage) I gained 5-6 lbs. That's a lot for a petite person. I have a "spare tire" around my belly and stocky arms and legs. Bottom line: I have to eat right to fuel the running without the weight gain. I often wonder what the ideal running weight is for me. I'm gonna employ your healthy eating method. GO US!!!

Wow. I feel like a behemoth reading all this discussion of height and weight. You guys are petite. I'm tall. That's the great thing about running--all types of bodies are out there doing it!

(p.s. I have a blubbery tummy too.)
