Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

It's official, I have a cold.  I felt a little soreness in my throat yesterday and tried to be in denial but here it is.  My options today were get up at 5am to run 4 miles, or sleep in until it was time to get the kids to school.  I opted to sleep in.  Maybe I will run a few after work tonight to keep from getting too stale.  Maybe I will not.  Yesterday's windy run was discouraging.  Weather forecast shows a 17mph south wind for Saturday, but overnight Friday night is 9mph so I am hoping that at 7am for the first half of the marathon it won't be quiet 17mph yet.  I hope.  I hope.  Excuse me while I go blow my nose, pound the Emergen-C, and look for my mojo.

Update:  midnight after work, 4 miles on the treadmill.  ran at 8:34 pace except for several brief accelerations to 7:25, then 6:40, then 6;00 pace to stretch the legs a little.

Take care of that cold. Your mojo is still there--no need to look far.

The wind will cooperate. And if it doesn't, you'll overcome it. Simple as that.

REst up baby! :) You are going to be SO well rested that the marathon will be a cake walk ;D Maybe this cold is God's gift to you, so you'll rest up extra good :) xoxxoxoxo

I agree with Tracy - you've got lots of mojo!! Have some chicken soup with that EmergenC, rest up, and feel better!! You're in great shape, April, you'll knock this cold down fast!

PS: 7 am sounds like a good start for the marathon - it'll be cooler out at that time of day, and it should be less windy!

Ahhhhh the premarathon body breakdown,,, since your brain won't listen to you your body ALWAYS tries to remind you of your task at hand...anything to get out of a marathon in windy April but with lots of sleep, continued healthy eating you will shake that cold away in time to do awesomely. My body usually gets the stomach flu. Hang in there. Take a YOGA moment : D

3 days till your race will hopefully help get you over it.

I'm bet the 17 mph doesn't come until the afternoon and you'll be under 10 mph for the start. Hope I didn't poison you with all my wind-predicting theory - everyone's right that you'll crush it regardless!

DANG STUPID COLD!!!!! I am so sorry. YOU GET WELL FAST! What is it with tapering and just feeling like crud?!?

That wind you have been having sounds awful. I am going to be praying for you on Saturday morning that the wind hold off until you fly through that finish line!

From Smooth on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 19:12:59 from 174.23.201.210

STINKY COLD! I'm certain you will get well FAST! A little run will clear it up for sure!

Crossing my fingers and toes that the wind holds off until you turn around and then comes a nice tail wind on your back all the way to your glory finish WIN! :)
