Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

7:40 average pace.  Not the greatest workout in the world, but not bad.  I was preoccupied because: (drumroll)....DAVID GOT A JOB AND HE STARTS ON MONDAY!!!!  He found out this morning and I was all thinking about it when I started my run so my heart wasn't really in the run but I gave it some effort anyway.  Target was 3x2 at 6:52 pace with brisk recoveries.  I didn't quite hit the pace but I'm not too worried about it. ITB felt fine(yeah!) but running fast felt weird--as if I was suddenly 6 inches taller and my torso was disconnected from my legs.  When I got the sports massage Saturday the therapist told me it would mess with my proprioception so I wonder if this is what she was talking about--I only noticed it during the fast miles.

2 mile warm-up 9:47, 9:04(wow not feeling it)

2 mile tempo 6:59, 6:47

.5 at 4:00(8:00 pace)

2 mile tempo 6:57, 6:57(ummm at least it's consistent)

.5  in 4:05(8:10 pace)

2 mile tempo 7:01, 7:00(lame-o)

1 mile cool down 8:03

one circuit of strengthening drills, including some ITB exercises

Now I am off to eat ice cream with my husband to CELEBRATE!

7:40 pace for 10 miles IS the greatest workout in the world. Congratulations to your husband. I ate a pint of ice cream last night. :)

7:01, 7:00? I'm so disappointed. Where's the burst of speed at the end of those miles? Just kidding, I wouldn't be thinking about running either; that's great news, congrats. And that's still ridiculously fast running.

Still sounds like a great tempo run to me - you are so great at sticking to your training program! Glad your ITB was behaving today, and CONGRATULATIONS on your husband's new job (it is so tough finding employment in this economy!)

Now, I just need to look up the definition for "proprioception" . . .

CONGRATULATIONS on your husband's new job!

VERY AWESOME tempo run. Wish mine was half as consistent as yours! EXCELLENT effort! Glad the ITB feels good at a faster pace. You're so good at tuning in with your body!

My hot fudge brownie sundae with low carb ice cream(really I don't know why I even bothered) was absolutely delicious(it was NOT a low-carb brownie).

Oh, how I wish I could come and celebrate with you!!!! YEAH, and super yeah for ice cream!

I think your work out was quite good actually, tempo runs kick my butt (so I do not do them). I am impressed with the pace, and it may have gotten a little slower at the end, but that is okay----you were preoccupied!

From Tracy on Wed, Mar 03, 2010 at 18:49:26 from 173.23.75.96

Oh yay! I missed this one. Congrats to David! And I only wish that I could average 7:40 for 10 miles!! You're awesome.
