Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

one hour on the evilliptical bright and early this morning.  I am hoping to do my husband's boot camp workout video later this afternoon and maybe a little strength training at the rec center.  Stronger legs will help my joints take the pounding better, right?  I'm still super limpy but have improvement when I take motrin--at first motrin wasn't even helping but now it is so I guess that is progress...I'm on vacation now!  Ok, staycation. First day of nursing school is Tuesday.

p.m.  30 minutes on the virtual bike, then 2 sets of 10 each on quads and hamstrings(light weights)

Jesse turns 14 tomorrow so I better get moving on party preparations!

Motrin has an accumulative effect, so the more regularly you take it the better the anti-inflammatory effect. But you probably already knew that! Good luck with school! FUN TIMES!!! :)

unfortunatley motrin also has the effect of ripping my guts up. I'm not sure how much more belly cramping and runs I can take. Have you had any experience with using aleve as an anti-inflammatory with injuries?

From Jodi on Fri, Jan 09, 2009 at 18:19:34

To help with my leg the doctor prescribed 500 mg Naproxen. Which is the ingredient in Aleve just larger strength. I have a very sensitive stomach and as long as I take alittle after eating something I've been fine. I was taking one in a.m. and one in p.m.

Are you taking the Advil with food? It must be taken with food. Be careful with Aleve- it can cause kidney failure in some people (rare, but it happened to my dad). Aleve is very effective. I like it a lot. You need an anti-inflammatory med, but you need to protect your tummy.

I have been taking the motrin with either milk or food every 6 hours. I am going to try aleve today and see how it works. It is crazy--I can tell when the motrin is wearing off and it's time for another dose because the pains in my ankle get super sharp and intense when I take steps and it makes me limp worse. Then, the motrin kicks in and I am able to walk a little better. I checked my blog from when I had this in my other ankle and it was about 2 weeks before I could run again. I am barely finishing up one week so I know I have at least another week of this...Thanks for the advice on meds Marion and Jodi!

I sure hope the Aleve works for you. I liked it when I took it a few months ago. :) Buck up little camper, everything is going to be alright :D
