4.25 in the morning.  I felt pretty good.

4.6 tempo and 4x400 in the evening (had to cut off two 400's due to time restraints)

I decided not to do the timed mile. Instead I did a "30" minute tempo run with DAve Z. I felt heavy and tight... I stayed true to the "half-marathon EFFORT" as prescribed, even though our pace was slower than our 16 miles at marathon effort a couple of weeks ago. then we came back and 4x400 with jog 100 rest, in the dark. they were in the mid/low 80's... which felt FAST... I think the 24 miler is still in the legs a bit. I'm not worried. I'm looking at the moon, not the fingers... long story....

So Dave asked "Is Will wearing Leiterhausen?" (sp?) and no he wasn't... he was wearing overalls/shorts.. but the sturdy build, blonde hair, and short sleeve oxford, knee high athletic socks, did leave him looking quite "German". This made me think, It's like I gave birth to two different European "ethnicities" I have a stout scandavian, and sleek spaniard.  Given the melting pot of genetics it makes sense, but you'd think they'd coalesce into interesting mixes instead of remaining compartmentalized?  I love Genetics!

You are one fast runner, Annie! I mean WOW!

How true what you say about genetics - my dad's family looks very German, and my mom's very Spanish - and my mom's side definitely prevails in me and my two sisters. I also have one adopted sister who just had a baby - it was strange not being able to comment something like "he got his grandpa's nose", because he's not related to us by blood. He looks very Polish, which is where my sister's family was from. So interesting!

Happy running Annie!

you definitely do take after your mom's side! I wish I had those genetics! My mom is 3/4 IRish 1/4 German... my dad a blend of French/dutch/IRish... I'm a definite blend.... and so are my siblings... My husband's side, Welch/scotish/german... HE's the only Welch looking one, and yet we have Cooper his exact clone. dark hair, olive skin, green eyes, and (like you)small sleek frames! OH how envious I am, they'd be beautiful girls!

I actually have a very large frame - every time I talk to a running coach he tells me I would be a great 800 meter runner - I'm not built for marathoning, but I love the longer, more endurance-heavy events.

You must have great genes to be able to run that fast!

I love the picture by the way - your boys are ADORABLE!

DON'T LISTEN...I have always been told the same thing! I'm 5'7" (with my shoes on) and normally 125lbs. I am NOT built like a marathoner. at my skinniest I have gotten down to 118... at my biggest I have been 138 (not pregnant). DON'T LISTEN definitely follow your heart on that one. My high school coach made me an 800m runner, I wanted to do the 2mile. My college coach made me a 1500/3k/steepler and I wanted to do the 5k/10k... as it turns out I'm better the longer I go...
