Was up early this morning (dang body clock) so I went to the LPT to get in a few miles before the club run.  I knew the run with the club would be short so I was glad that I got out early to get in a few extra miles.  The battery in my Garmin is dead so I am guessing on the mileage but am pretty sure it is close.  Ran 10 miles on the trail and passed Kathie on the way back.  Didn't recognize her at first since she wasn't wearing her blue jacket.  I was still very early and didn't want to stand around that long before starting up again so I grabbed a drink from the car and headed back out for 1.5 more miles.  Kathie was right at my turn around spot so I ran back with her.  Met up with the club and ran 4.5 miles with Trevor.  Either I didn't take in enough fuel or my body isn't processing it very efficiently because I really started to feel hypoglycemic 1.5 miles into the last segment of the run.  I started seeing spots as we went into the tunnel and my arms and hands were tingling.  This lasted for 1.5 miles then the last mile felt a lot better.  I thought about the pop tart that I had in my car the entire time and that is all that kept me going.  When I got back to my car, it was gone.  Guess I ate it before the run and forgot.  Glad to get the mileage in and despite the 2 miles of being low, the run felt good.

I had pretzels and Gu in my car if I knew you were hungry I would have shared.

Now you know I have an orange jacket too, I could tell you didn't know it was me...

You're pretty die hard to keep running while seeing spots, having tingling fingers, and hallucinating about pop tarts. Good job on the pop tart fuel by the way and nice run too.

Andy -- I am laughing so hard right now. First, only a diehard runner like yourself keeps running when seeing spots and tingling hands. Second, the pop-tart fiasco was hilarious!!! I'm laughing right now just thinking about it!!

Nice job on the miles!

Hey, quick question. I have thought about the training programs you like and looked into them. What do you think about this book? I think I will order it if I get the thumbs up from you: http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Marathoning-Pete-Pfitzinger/dp/0736074600/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1228686056&sr=8-2

Teena - That is an excellent resource even if you don't use the training program. It covers the training principles but doesn't go into so much detail that you lose interest. The typical training in a week is a long run, one speed session (either a 4-7 mile tempo run at 1/2 marathon pace or shorter repeats at 5k pace), a medium long run and a couple of recovery runs. I give the book 2 enthusiatic thumbs up.

Sorry - I wasn't paying any attention...I was way behind...I always have food in my car if you ever need it. (water too)...no poptarts...just healthy stuff

It is so YOU Andy to keep running in hypoglycemic state!!! Such a diehard!

I was fine once I finished running. It was just that 2 mile stretch that I struggled. I did a poor job of consistent carbohydrate intake which caused the peaks and valleys.
