Just a nice steady paced run.  I decided to throw in the towel and just train for a half marathon this year.  Marathon training is just taking too much out of me and I am tired of being tired all of the time.  I need to stick with some sort of training plan but am going to cut back on the miles.

This is why I only run one marathon a year. That way I only have 18 week of hard training and the rest of the year "off"

So....any more details for Teena and I?

I hear what you're saying, Andy. Running the Slam is killing me. I think this will be the only time I do it.

From Andy on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 12:26:17 from 199.190.170.29

Kathie - There really are no details. Just a movie and hanging out.

Dale - I think that the 2 years that I ran the slam were easier for me because I was so focused on the next race. I'm really having a hard time with out that carrot in front of me.

You'll get speedy training for only a half.

From Smooth on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:10:12 from 71.36.81.56

I always marvel at the high volumes you run even when you weren't training for anything specific. You have a high expectation of yourself, particularly in your performance. I respect your running talents and appreciate your advice. So, what Half are you thinking?

From Andy on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:23:34 from 159.212.71.77

Thanks Smooth. I am leaning towards the Top of Utah half. I am also considering the Provo half.

From Smooth on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:28:25 from 71.36.81.56

When's TOU half? That's got to be better organized than Curt's crazy 1/2.

From Andy on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:30:51 from 159.212.71.77

It is August 29. I have never run it but have only heard great things about it (great course and organization).

From Teena on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 17:15:12 from 67.177.20.13

Hey Andy ... I think I might run TOU half as well. Not sure yet though.

Don't blame you at all.

Have you considered training for a tri?

From Huans32 on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 17:54:10 from 138.64.2.76

Well I think once you decide on something you will feel a lot better about things. I hate that feeling of not really having something to work for. ToU looks like a great one to go do. And doing a half will do you alot of good.

From Andy on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 19:59:46 from 198.60.114.178

Teena - I really want to learn how to swim the right way but don't want to invest the time or money into cycling so no tri for me.

From Teena on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 23:03:19 from 67.177.20.13

I know what you mean ...

Have to admit that I have really enjoyed the swimming. It's a very nice change and a great workout.

From fly on the Wall on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 09:30:30 from 168.179.215.242

Your plan sounds really good to me Andy. I was considering doing just 1/2s next year as a way of taking a "rest" year while still training. But that's probably just the mid week mid long runs during the heat of the day talking....
