Another cold and rainy day.  At .least there was no wind.  The gloomy atmosphere matched my emotions.  Just a nice and easy recovery run.  I needed the exercise to flush out some negative thoughts.

Hope the flushing went well.

I almost cried when I read your Monday post. I wish I could have held that pace, maybe at Ogden.

I just signed my son up for ST. George, he would like to BQ on his first marathon. He would need a 3:10. His fastest 5K is 16 something but he thought the course was short. Do you think it is even possible to go that fast on your first marathon?

From Andy on Fri, Apr 23, 2010 at 13:42:17 from 159.212.71.199

He obviously has the speed to do it so it all depends on whether or not he has the endurance to hold the pace for the marathon. Depending on how much running he has done over the past year I think he could do it if he just works on consistent mileage over the next few months.

One of the biggest issues for young runners on their first marathon is having the patience and discipline to hold back during the first half of the race. The first 10 miles of a marathon feel so easy that it is hard to run at the proper pace so that you have enough fuel to finish the race. I think that if he works hard and runs a smart race that he can definitely do it.

Nice job. Did the running flush out the negative thoughts? I was that way yesterday, but my run was so crapppy that it just made me feel worse. Now I need to read your post from Monday.

Hopefully the sunshine will be out tomorrow morning to put you in a chipper mood Andy.

Kathie, your son is fast. I agree 100% with Andy's analysis.
