When I woke up this morning I was really light headed and couldn't keep my balance.  Felt better after awhile so I headed out the door.  Took it easy for the first 3 miles then thought I would give a tempo run a try.  First mile felt weird but was right on pace (6:29).  I decided that I felt good enough to finish the planned 4 miles at tempo pace.  I was able to hold the pace and the effort didn't feel that hard.  My left hamstring started to ache towards the end of the 3rd mile and I considered stopping but was able to complete the run without too much trouble.  Average pace for the 4 miles was 6:26/mile.  Cooled down with 2 easy miles.

Total Time: 1:05:54 (7:19/mile)

Good job on your tempo run!

When is your next race?

From Andy on Mon, Mar 10, 2008 at 11:57:07

My next race is the Striders 1/2 on April 5. I'm planning on the Utah Valley marathon on April 12 then the Ogden marathon on May 17. So much for my planned break from marathons this year.

Andy are you shooting for a specific time target for Striders 1/2?

From Andy on Mon, Mar 10, 2008 at 12:03:02

Tom -

I haven't given it a lot of thought yet. I assume that we are pretty close in fitness so maybe we should run together.

From Tom on Mon, Mar 10, 2008 at 12:07:04

My thoughts exactly. I notice your PRs are very similar to mine with you being a bit speedier than me. I certainly don't want to slow you down but I do want to be more aggresive in the early miles on this race compared to Painters so I wouldn't mind trying to hang with you at least for a while.

As the race gets closer maybe we can work something out. Thanks for suggesting it.

What happened to the Striders 10 miler. Other plans??

From Andy on Tue, Mar 11, 2008 at 12:44:58

Cody -

I am not running the full Striders series. I am skipping the 10 miler and 30K. To me, those are weird distances to race. Since I am going to run the UVM, that would be too much racing for me anyway.

Keep up the running and you will do well at the races. Good luck.
