The good news is that my friend PR'd in the marathon. He ran 2:49. The bad news is that my right calf tightened up 3 miles into the run. I jogged a bit to warm up and waited for Loren at the 13 mile mark. I did not time it well. I ended up standing around for 10 to 15 minutes by the time he hit 13 miles. When he came by, I jumped into 6:20's with him. It was too much for cold muscles, especially after taking 3 or 4 days off. I'll end up taking a few more days off to nurse my calf. Another dumb mistake on my part. It's tough enough to get out the door every day and stay healthy. I'm pretty upset at myself for taking such a risk running hard on cold legs in rainy 40 degree weather. I hope my calf heals quickly so I can get back on the roads. |
