Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Haven't been feeling good since last Saturday when I overdid it. I'm used to feeling sore/achy for a day or two but it's been 4 days and I'm getting worried. Going to take another day off today and hope it helps. My right side from  my ribs to my knee feels weak and the groin area feels like it is pulling with relief only when I lay on my stomach. This is my designated "down week" anyway but I wasn't expecting to be feeling worse.

In the interest of being optimistic, I would venture to say that the new PT exercises could be contributing to the soreness--just this last week I got way sore over some squats and lunges when I did more than usual. Maybe slow jogging(as in SLOW) on a treadmill-- less impact for a while until the body has had more time to get ready for harder running? I'm no expert, not by any means, but uber slow running(8:30 or slower) and a little treadmill time has helped me eek my way back from injuries before. Hoping for a turnaround from your crummy day today!

Ok, I'll run slow and easy on soft surfaces tomorrow. I was reading something about how running slower teaches less economical patterns so I got myself all worked up about it and decided to run faster. Probably shouldn't be concerned about that right now and just do what feels the best. I hope this is just soreness from PT but worried. I just don't know if ill ever be able to get back to a point where I can actually train again...having lots of doubts! I need another good day to keep optimistic! You know how it is :)

Stop reading.

You always feel worse after PT. Always. Good day tomorrow, then GREAT long weekend in Colorado! :-)

For what it is worth - and I am way behind you on the learning curve of these injuries - is that in the rehab papers they gave me - they said it is possible to have periods of discomfort / pain or bad periods for up to a year after the surgery. They attribute this to scar tissue. The key is to just be patient and gradually your confidence in your health and fitness - at least regarding this injury will return.

Or do what Jake said - quit reading! :)
