Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 4.5 miles easy. Wore the clunky, high cushion shoes to try to give some extra support to my posterior tibialis tendon that is giving me problems.

Jake wrote an interesting blog post yesterday about Footwear and The Middle Ground  that I think is worth reading.

When you say clunky, high cushion I think of these:

Scott I would call those "clunky, high FASHION"!

Haha! I would like to see some of those in 'Saucony colors'.

Julie - it was definitely not much warmer in SLC! I had on 3 layers, mittens, hat, etc!

Scott - those are ugly! Thank you for associating me with wearing those.

HA! Scott, funny, but I think of the same thing :) Nice, I can just see someone trying to run in those - especially Andrea. HAhaha, too funny.

Nice work Andrea. Take care of those aches and pains. It is taper madness times.

Andrea you sound like you're going through what I went through late in my training cycle. My tendons became noticeably sore and I think they healed up within 2-3 days of my marathon. It took about 6-7 days for the little aches to go away, so I cut it a little close!

From dutterman on Wed, Nov 09, 2011 at 22:44:49 from 98.157.149.249

My posterior tibial tendonitis sat me down for nearly 8 months, mostly because I didn't know what to do for it... The culprit was a trigger point clear up the leg below my gastro. Good luck with your taper. I'm a little more than 4 weeks to go for my first marathon in three years.
