Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 1.5 miles around the block. Lots of hip pain, but I was so discouraged that I ran anyways. It's been 4 weeks and no improvement! I'm convinced that I got a placebo instead of steroids because I haven't gotten any relief at all from the hip pain. MRI time. Gotta figure out what's wrong!!!

MRI sounds like a good idea. I am sorry the steroids did not bring some relief. :(

Sorry to hear about the struggles, I hope the MRI finds the problem.

So sorry Andrea but I definitely agree that after a full month it is time for some answers.

Andrea! I am so sorry that it isn't getting better. I agree with everyone above, its TIME!

Andrea, it's unfortunate but it seems likely you have a stress fracture (of course I'm not psychic). If that's the case, then the sooner you stop running then the sooner you will heal. I went through this last year with Allie and it was hard to watch. However, once she stopped running and got a diagnosis she got better relatively quickly. I think there's nothing worse than going out the door everyday hoping that it will feel better than yesterday. It's sets you up for disappointment every day and I think that can make it hard to take a rational approach. You should just ask yourself what you would suggest to Jake if he was experiencing the same thing as you are right now.

Sorry to hear about your sruggles Andrea. I'll say some prayers for you.
