Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 4.4 miles, a couple of those with Jake.

Yesterday during the repeats, I realized that I wasn't driving my knee forward and instead was extending my legs back too far. This is something I need to focus on for the next few weeks - working on form and strengthening the hip flexers with high knees, leg lifts, etc.

PM - 3 miles followed by drills.

I'm impressed you can identify that in your running form. I always need someone to point out that I am doing something off and then fix it. Good work

Interesting observation Andrea. I feel like I change my form about when I run fast too. I really need to come up and have you and Jake video tape me one of these days. It is so easy to focus on good form when going slow but when trying to hit a certain pace it is about the last thing I think of!

do you think biking helps with the hip flexors?? I do, especially if the seat is low enough (but not too low). After just a short jaunt to the rec center last Monday and then running three miles on the track outside with my plan to go easy since my foot had/has issues-- my third mile was a 7:10 without trying hard. It felt like easy pace to me-- I blame it on first I was on a track and second leg turnover on a bike. I honestly felt like I was running slow after getting off my bike at 4 minute miles. I am hoping all this cross training will benefit somehow rather than hurt me in the long run (no pun intended). Stay focused!!

I agree with Dan, not a clue how I run. I have seen pictures and I know I run weird, I will leave it at that!

Have fun tomorrow! It looks like a very fun run!!
