Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Post Surgery Day 5.

Big improvements today. Less back and butt cramping. I was able to double the distance I walked from yesterday and be more mobile overall. I even took an adventure to the grocery store, although I had to drive around in the scooter chair.

I might just be being paranoid, but I am feeling some discomfort on the contralateral side from the surgery, and I'm worried that side is going to end up injured too. Hopefully its just a symptom from the overall discomfort of the past few days and nothing major to be concerned about.

You are the fittest person I've ever seen use (and actually need) one of these. Glad things are looking up!

From SlowJoe on Sun, May 12, 2013 at 19:45:18 from 96.61.24.215

Dang, Jason stole my comment idea, although I was going to be a little more crude. Awesome picture! It would be better if your cart was full of cheap beer and oreos, but still pretty sweet.

Anyway, I bet you feel all kinds of kinks/aches for awhile. Glad you are feeling better.

Right before he took the picture, Jake said "we better take this before we go down the snack aisle!" Haha. No beer though - apparently beer and narcotics is a bad idea. I feel like this should be tested...

We mixed margarita mix with sprite tonight... gotta keep Andrea off the booze while she is on drugs.

From Kam on Sun, May 12, 2013 at 20:31:34 from 199.192.101.88

It would take three Andreas to approach the weight those carts are usually subjected to...

From Rachelle on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 09:51:06 from 199.190.170.21

Now that is awesome! I am just catching up here and am so glad to hear you are on the up swing Andrea.

From Carina on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 10:00:48 from 204.15.86.83

I just caught up on everything! So glad you got the surgery and that everything is going better! You will be back before you know it!!!

From emruns on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 10:26:32 from 76.27.114.171

I was going to be mean and make a snide comment about the people who usually use the scooter shopping carts . . . but I'll refrain and just assume we're all thinking the same things. Glad to see you are on the mend. Things can only get better from here. I had a c-section, so I feel your pain . . . though I was still in the hospital 4 days after.

From Jake K on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 10:38:56 from 67.177.11.154

I didn't know much about c-sections until this past week, but they sound awful! My Mom had them for both kids, and she was in the hospital for 1 day with me but 3-4 with my sister.

The funny part of Andrea driving the cart scooter was when she had to back up. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. So embarrassing, but also hilarious.

From Rob Murphy on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 10:42:01 from 163.248.33.220

You got to ride the obese Type II Diabetes scooter!

From Dave Taylor on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 10:49:27 from 63.255.191.163

Don't worry about the pain, the body sometimes reflects pain from one side to the other due to message confusion at the brain stem. (Although it's more common with teeth) Rooting for you!

From Jake K on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 10:52:41 from 67.177.11.154

Dave, that's a good point. I also wonder if the fact that she had a couple nerve branches cut off during the surgery is making her CNS act a little wonky.

From allie on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 11:22:18 from 161.38.221.168

i'm so happy to know that it was beeping.

I love this picture - Andrea you look so happy in that jazzy. I am SO glad you are on the mend.

Em - C-sections = horrid. Props to you for coming back so strong after one. I felt like my insides were going to drop out at any moment!

Jake - give your mom a big hug. They are awful. And give Andrea and extra hug because I can't.

From NatalieK on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 16:31:56 from 98.202.32.58

So glad that you made the best of your situation and got to ride in a jazzy! Hope you continue to feel better and better.

From Bonnie on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 19:50:20 from 74.202.188.254

The main question that comes to mind when I see this picture -- did you actually try to use the fastrunninggarmin to keep track of miles/pace on that thing? Oh, and can you super-charge it so you can use it for Sugarhouse Park? Maybe I can ride it beside you in a couple months when you are speeding through some workouts?
