Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc. 

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 30 minutes on the elliptical. Called the sports doctor this morning and told him the steroid isn't helping more than 10-20%. Back to the drawing board - big test to see what other diagnostic/treatment ideas he has up his sleeve...we're missing something here, I know it. 

PM - 2 miles walking around the track with some running drills mixed in there. 30 minutes of arm weights.

hmmm.....blood work??? hormones, ferritin (again), TSH, etc...ARE you sleeping well? I would suggest cherry juice concentrate a strong antioxidant. hope things turn around quick!!

Did he do another x-ray of your pelvis? If not I would suggest that again. If so, and there were still no signs of a pelvic fracture in the ramus or elsewhere then maybe you should re-examine your MRI and that small piece of labrum that they did not think was causing any problems.

Yup, he took an xray of the pelvis and everything looked good. I'm getting really nervous b/c I've started to develop pain around my pubic bone.

Yes I have looked into it...average 9 month recovery :( I didn't have the signs of it when the doc did the testing for it, but ever since he did that I've had pain there.

I'm curious to know what other tests they will look at. Clearly something is wrong and hasn't been detected. Sneaky injury! Otherwise, I think you just need to form an opiate addiction. That seems to be popular these days.

I had osteitis pubis postpartum and several flares since then. I honestly think it is hormonal either thyroid or adrenals. Getting optimum nutrition- vitamins and iron.

Well I set up another appt with the doc on Tuesday. He said that he really needs the pain to localize in order to determine what the next plan of action is...hopefully that happens by then.

I'm going to ask him what this could be if it isn't sports related...and whether we should just go ahead and get some blood work done, get a bone scan, etc.

Yeah I hear it's very common during/after pregnancy. It sounds terrible.

I am heavily thinking about "localizing" the pain with a hard tempo run :)

Is the pain in your SI joint? You're absolutely certain it's not an acquired leg length discrepancy? All that tightness in your hips/psoas/hamstring might jack your legs up into your pelvis. This can cause pain which source often goes mis/undiagnosed. If you do have a discrepancy I can give you the name of the only person I trust to pull my leg back in place. Since my last baby I've needed an adjustment about once every six months. My pain ranged from very sharp debilitating SI pain (I could not run at all), to a "stiff" feeling in my hip. I hope you can figure this out!
