1:37 Half-marathon (Provo Canyon, 2007)

3:28 marathon (St. George, 2006)

50k+ (Moab Red Hot, 9hrs and some change -- yeah, I'm planning to train for this same ultra next year).

Short-Term Running Goals:

This season, I hope to break a 20-minute 5K.  I also hope to get a 1:30 half-marathon and a 3:20 marathon.  I'm hoping this is a successful season.  I train with a great team of running buddies.  Check out their blogs spots below.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would like to qualify again for Boston and actually run it this time.  Craig, I'm counting on you to help me do that this year.  I've succeeded in encouraging my husband to run a full marathon with me -- now we just have to decide which one.  We both put in for St. George '08 and neither of us drew out.  Too bad! 

Personal:

I am married to the greatest guy (Johnny).  No kids for us yet.  Within the last year, Johnny has taken up an interest in running.  He runs with the whole team now.  We enjoy running together, with our golden retriever Murphy, and with our awesome team of the coolest running people out there.

Ok, Craig, this race report is for you.  I, too, was one of the lucky suckers who had the privilege of riding in the Ragnar Chariot of Sweetness -- we arrived in style with Craig heckling anyone he could with the loud speaker.  Honestly, I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard or had so much fun. 

On the morning of the race, I felt good and well-rested (and I NEVER sleep the night before a race).  I had a cold that I was still battling from earlier in the week -- I wonder if that was why I just felt gassed out and lead-legged through the majority of the race.  I feel like I trained successfully during the winter and I'm disappointed that my finish time didn't reflect that -- that just means I gotta work harder now. 

The weather conditions at the start of the race were perfect.  Something I'll keep in mind for the next race with a later start time: eat a big enough breakfast.  I started to get hungry around the start time of the race.  Clif Blocks just don't satisfy. 

I can't give a mile by mile run down like Craig did (just 'cause I don't have the time right now -- maybe later).  Ultimately, I realized that the course is as tough as the others had told me.  I felt like my left leg was about two inches longer than my right.  This as a result of my chiropractor appointment/back adjustment a few days prior to the race.  But on a good note, I finally feel like my right hip is on the mend.  I just have to learn how to run with a normal spine again.  Props to Dominique to finishing the race on a broken foot!  I promise I tried to convince her to stop.

Some of the highlights of the race: a smooth, controlled start with Coach and ma girls, running with Dominique most of the course, the massive drums that echoed for miles, running into Lander around mile 12, running into Maggie's husband, Scott, at about mile 12.5, of course the reunion at the finish line.  I'm super-proud of my husband for completing his first half-marathon without me by his side! 

Now, I just can't wait for another chance to show 'em what I've got!!

Great job on the race. You are headed for some great times this year. I had the same thing happen before the race and saw the chiro as well. When I am out now running I can really feel the camber in the road so I have to get on the side walk if it is to bad. On a side note I usually run my end of summer half over 10 mins faster than this one.

Right on! Thanks so much, Josse, for the encouraging words! :o) I'll have to try the sidewalk instead. Now if I could just get my right leg to grow another two inches. . . .

And best of all, I'm looking forward to dropping 10 minutes on my half finish time. See ya out on the sidewalk! :o)

Hey, you got attitude, no doubt, without Gwen, bet you get your goals this year. Yea, Moab is tougher than expected, just train hard - attitude.

It has been a hard winter of training, we finally have the weather to train hard. Nice PRs you have to chase.

Andrea, when I saw you in the bright orange van it threw me for a loop! I didnt know that was you at first! Too bad he couldnt drive next to you while you were running! Come on Andrea pick it up! Funny! Hey, I wont be at your run tommorrow, but I will get with you guys on wednesday. Ive been trying to kick a cold ive got this week, thats why ive been a slacker. My throat is still raw and I worry it may be strep. It was good to see you at the finish even though I know how it feels when you come in from a race. Its hard to talk to anyone. Ill see you later, have fun tommorrow!
