Running Accomplishments:

I was a much better runner in my 20's and 30's.  When I was 52 I had a 28.5 5K and a 58.5 10K, and I would like to surpass those times.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a 1/2 marathon.  I would actually love to run a full marathon, but am not sure if my body would break down with injuries training for one.  Update fall 2010: still no 1/2 marathon, but I did run all the way up city creek and back home (14 miles)  - absolutely gorgeous!!

Personal:

My name is Adele Kimbrough - I'm 58 and have been running (off and on) since I was 16.  My body is not well designed for speed, and I'm a bit arthritic, but I'm having fun trying to figure out just how fast I can be.  And this blog helps!

Dang - missed my goal by 4 seconds!

Ran 2 miles at the soccer field track (AP 10:02), decided it was too hot (86 with the sun blazing away), so I came home to my trusty treadmill that I haven't been on in over two months.  Ran 4 more miles (AP 10:20), then finished with one more very slow mile that was punctuated with several interruptions.  I kind of had a mental block at getting back on my treadmill after so long, but it went fine, and it was super nice not running under the relentless sun!

way to hang on the treadmill...doesn't sound like fun. Maybe OK if you have the TV going while you run.

That's a tough choice between the sun and the treadmill. Good job running with both of them.

Barb, Thanks. I listen to music when I run on the TM, which is a treat because I don't listen to music when I run outside. :)

Carolyn, I originally planned to run 2 miles at the soccer track, then to run my 5 mile hilly route. But, no way did I want to run hills with the heat AND the sun!! I'm feeling wimpy this summer . . .
