15 mile long run. I intentionally started slow, running the first five miles averaging 8 minutes per mile. I felt very comfortable, so I decided to slowly increase my pace each mile, eventually running the 15th mile in 6:58. At the end of the run, I still felt well within myself and could have run longer, but my goal was to run 15 miles today and I didn't want to push it too hard. It was about 66 degrees when I started my run with a light breeze, which was nice.
I experimented with running with water bottles along the Mississippi so I would have water along the way. It was a little cumbersome, but I think the hydration definitely helped me in the late, faster miles. I also took a pouch of Honey Stinger chews with water around mile 9, and that probably helped too.
