Today we did a speed workout. We did the usual 2 laps warm up, then stretching and drills. Then we did 3 laps warmup and 3 laps speed changes. We then did 2 sets of 200, 800, 400, and 3 200s. After the sets we did barefoot strides on the fresh painted football field, fresh painted for the lacrosse game tomorrow, ah yeah! We still had a 3 mile cool down to do, and my calves were in so much pain. Kiley, Sarah and I ran up Sunnyside, across Guardsman, down 5th south, across 13th, up to the track, and some laps around the soccer field. I'm dead, I haven't ran that much since.... a while.

Today after the usual 2 lap warm up with stretching and drills, we did our Avenues hills run. I felt like I was going to die, my calves hurt, my foot killed, my stomach was empty, and it was really hot. I ran with Camille, and we were both dying. As soon as we got back to the track we did 2 chasing 300s, around the HOT lacrosse players.

Race: BYU Invitational (2 Miles) 00:11:59

Today at BYU Invite, I did a 2 mile warm up with Natalie and Bill, we went out a mile and back. Nat and I were both in the fast heat, which was the 2nd heat in the 3200. At the starting line, the official made me upset because I asked if I could build a sand castle in the long jump pit, and he said no. Oh well I'll try again tomorrow. Anyway, at the start the American Fork girl elbowed me and cut right in front of me, but I got around her. At the first mile I was a 5:46, so I needed to pick it up a bit. I felt like I had picked it up, but really the pain kicked in more, because I ran an 11:59. I'm not too happy with my race, but at least I know what I should do tomorrow in the 1600. Congrats to Natalie for breaking the state record, you stud-muffin! For a cooldown, I ran with Nat and Bill a random loopy route around Provo, and some people gave us free food, hot dogs, chips, cookies... Yum. And bottled water. Then we went to Denny's for some bacon. Now it's time for me to ice and eat noodles. Yum.

Today we were stuck in traffic due to the Provo half marathon, so Bill kicked me off the bus about 2 blocks away from the stadium so I could run to check in and warm up. I did about a mile total with strides and drills. This was for the BYU Invite for my mile. My start was pretty stellar, I got out fast and didn't have to put up with people elbowing me. I was right on pace for a 5:22, but on my last lap, I felt like I was pushing really hard but I guess I was in so much pain I couldn't really tell. I ended up with a 5:37. Right after my race, Bill told me I could go down to Provo Invite and run the mile for my 6th invitational and try again for state. I had just given everything, so I kinda knew I wouldn't have anything left anyway. Besides, when I got there the mile was over, so Kiley and I signed up for the 800. There were only 8 girls signed up, so they did a lane start. I was in lane one, so it wasn't weird for me. My first lap was a 76, Kiley right on my tail. I knew we had to stay strong in order to hit our goal times. We ended up getting 1 and 2 about 1 second apart, and the rest of the pack was about 10 seconds behind. Later, Kiley and I did a 6 mile cool down by going down to the Provo River trail and ending at Panda Express, so we bought food and went back to the meet to hang out with Park City. I made lots of friends today.
