Personal:

I'm married to Nan Kennard and she kicks my butt at running.  She has beat me handily in every race we have done together except for a downhill mile we did once.  She is my running inspiration.  I'd like to run a marathon with her someday and actually keep up.

Totally stoked to watch live Bear results today!!  Good luck Jon, bryce, and crockett!  Make us FRBers proud.

And I just signed up for the Moab Red Hot 50K today.  Already stoked to be signed up for another fun race.  Everybody sign up before it gets filled and we can have a big 'ol FRBer reunion in February.

Ran 6 miles this am.  Zero hip pain which is good.  I'm still going to get some ART done on it and take it a bit easier the next few weeks to try to eradicate whatever issue was there.  Took is slow and easy today - 53 min - 8:51/mile avg - HR High 130's -  through the dog park trails - so glad to be free to run in there again.  Such a great run this morning, absolutely grateful to be out running in the fall morning sun.

PM - My friend Sverre called me this afternoon and was in the neighborhood so I snuck out for an hour mt. bike ride with him...nice to catch up and get a quick ride in.

That Moab Red Hot 50K is quite tempting. I almost signed up, but have never done an ultra or trail race. Any pointers on how to prepare for it (besides just running more)?

Thanks for posting the link.

Jason - I'm a total Newbie to trail running and distance running so I'm not the best one to ask. But I basically just ran long and slow a lot. A lot for me was 3-4 times per week, approx. 30 miles/week. But that was just the level I have been at this year. I will eventually build up to bigger consistent mileage probably. Usually I would do 1 run of 2-3 hours in length. And then a few hour long runs. The best thing to do is just sign up! Then you'll be forced to try to figure it out.

Scott - you're welcome! Jon is 4th place after 81 miles! totally rockin', but he's going to have to do something special or the top two will have to crash and burn for him to catch up now.

I was just looking at the results. That is really cool. I'll be checking this out in the morning.

Hmmm, maybe I should sign up for that one. I hear good things. Hmmm.

Just signed up, though I don't know how I feel about knowing in advance that I will finish at least one place further back than I might have had you not signed up. :) See you there.

jun - DO IT! Everybody's doing it...:) OK, well at least we know Bryce and I are and who else is there right? j/k.

Bryce - Ha Ha! Good one! If I recall correctly you are the one of us that is a machine on a mission, clobbering his 1st 100 miler. I didn't even finish my first 50 miler and I hard core bonked when I actually tried to race a 50K, so I wouldn't give me that much credit. You on the other hand, are becoming a force to be reckoned with.

I am thinking about it.....

cody - no time for thinking! Just DO! This is going to be the big colorado/utah reunion 50K pretty soon...I already know a number of friends from CO signed up. And I definitely need you in the mix kicking all of our butts extremely hard (don't tell bryce I encouraged you so much or he'll be ticked because there's no question he'll lose a place then....oh...umm..hi bryce, I didn't notice you there.)
