Short-Term Running Goals:

Get fit again! Casper Marathon on June 8th in Casper, Wyoming. I don't have a specific goal time for it, as I don't know the course real well, but I'd like to shoot for 6 minute pace.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run for your life! Stay active enough to eat seconds and ice cream without guilt.

Personal:

Married to a beautiful wife AnnMarie, who is also a 3:15 marathoner and the mother of our handsome 2 year old, Myles and newbie Sullivan. Sullivant was born 2 years and one day after Myles was born. Myles knows only one speed--running all out. Kinda like Prefontaine.  Besides running, I enjoy reading, woodworking, fishing, and chasing Myles around our house.

Great way to start off the New Year. Got on the treadmill--it was 23 degrees below zero this morning, so I figured the treadmill would have to suffice. Only 6 miles, but I'm pleased with it and it's much better than what I've been doing lately. Got on the bathroom scale this morning also, and though I'm definitely not pleased with the numbers, it's a starting point and that's all I needed. I don't necessarily believe in resolutions, but rather goals, and one of them definitely is to get under 135 lbs. I know I'll race and feel better if that's where I'm at or under. The soft plan right now is to shoot for a spring/summer marathon, possibly Des News, and see what happens. I'm helping a friend Nate Wilcox break 3:30 in the marathon at Ogden, and I'll be running that with him to help him reach his goal. Best to all for a great 2008!

How much did you weigh when you ran 2:21 in Austin?

From 26.2runner on Wed, Jan 02, 2008 at 22:58:31

Sasha, I don't know the exact answer to your question about my weight at Austin in 2003. I do know I was lighter than I am now, I estimate around 132 pounds for then.

On a different note, I did notice on the top runners board that my 2:21:30 in Austin is equivalent to a 2:22:00 at a flat sea level course in ideal conditions. Not that it makes a hoot of difference, but to anyone who was in Austin that day, I think they'll agree the conditions were much less than ideal--gusting wind, very chilly. Again, it doesn't matter one whit, but the elevation loss in Austin I felt was definitely negated by the less-than-ideal conditions.

Joe - after discussing the matter with Ted this morning, he and I came to a conclusion that Austin 2003 was likely equivalent to a flat-sea level ideal conditions marathon. I adjusted the times on the Top Runners list accordingly.

Do you remember your weight in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 at the time of running key races? Was it significantly different from your Austin weight?

Also, you are one of the three runners that I used to calibrate the difference between Ogden and St. George in the predictor. The others being Paul and myself. I assumed equal quality performance in both races for you in 2005. Do you agree?

I don't remember my weight from 2004-07. Steady increase, most likely, with a steady decrease in quality training. Sad, I know.

Equal quality for both Ogden and St. George in 2005. Not that they were both superb races, but equal quality, yes. You do a great job with this site.
