This morning I  ran 11.01 at a 7:12 pace.  Three miles of it with my dog who set a pr at 7:40 pace, of course I've been holding him back.  I'm sure he could do 4 minute miles if I let him go.  Pretty much this run was around the city, and it took me about 4 miles to really get into this run.  I did a couple fartlek's in the middle of the run just to see if that would keep me interested during this easy run day.

 Lunch Hour:

I ran 4 miles on my lunch hour at marathon pace, exactly a lot slower but will call it near marathon pace (6:37).  Did this around the city and it was extremely hot.  I definitely like the morning runs versus the afternoon heat.  I ran by a lot of construction, we are finally getting a Chili's and Texas Roundhouse restaurant here.  The run was with little effort and I felt really relaxed.

Glad to hear your running the Teaton Dam marathon. Do you have any other information other than what is on the web site about the course? Do you know anyone who has ran it? I'm trying to get a clue of what to expect and what I have so far isn't very helpful.

Yes I know a couple runners that I know that have run it, and one was the winner last year at a time of 2:50. There's a gradual incline from mile 16 to 21, but they did change the course this year to make it easier from what the race director told me.

Here Jeff Shadley Comments on the course:

(winner of last year)

This local race is a fun, well organized event! A great value for the money (long-sleeve tech tee, good stuff in goodie bag). The race course itself is very scenic, albeit rather hard with the uphill climb from 16-21. The finishing line is great, with lots of food, drinks and activities. Plus, the trophies are very cool! I hope this event keeps growing. Not a lot of fans along the route, but many of them jump from water stop to water stop to cheer you on throughout the race!

I also have another friend who ran it last your and he said just be ready and trained for the uphill part. To me it looks similar to Boston.

I'm shooting for a 2:50, but your probably going to try to run a 2:40 correct. Which you would win since it's a small marathon. But if you wanted to pace at 2:50 with me that would be great, but I also totally understand if your trying to win. I know I'm not ready for a 2:40 yet. I think my plan is to run at MP for the first 16 miles and then relax a bit on the uphill so that I can have a tough finish.

Thanks for all the good stuff. I just looked at the elevation chart and from what I can see it looks a lot like Boston as well. I do want to try and run a good race and maybe even run a PR depending on how I feel that day. So hopefully 2:40 or under. We'll see what the competition is like. This week I did my long run this Monday. It's a tough 20 trail/road course. The first 9 miles climb for about 1,700 ft then it drops off for around 8 miles and climbs back up for 3.

Anyways good luck with your training the rest of the week. 4 solid weeks of training left then a taper week.
