The past couple of days I've been so tired. More tired than I've ever been in my life. The reason is the late nights, Friday night I stayed up till 3:30am fixing a problem at work with our Calendar Server which is a most that its up and running. Then I got up the next morning at 9am and ran 9.7 easy miles. Saturday night I stayed up till 2:30am, because of my online web homework that was due the next day. Yes, homework due on a Sunday. You don't go to class so due dates are a lot different than going to class to turn in work.

Sunday was my scheduled day off from running, and I was busy at home and didn't get a chance to rest. By 9pm that night I was completely drained and wiped out.

Monday: I woke up so tired that I don't know how I ran the first couple of miles. My eyes were tired they didn't want to stay open. The first three miles I averaged a 7:40 pace. I think the music is the only thing that kept me awake But I ran 10.5 miles in a 7:04 pace in 1:14. I didn't really do any marathon pace miles last week so I convinced myself to do four in this run at a 6:40 pace.

Still tired! This afternoon I went to the health club and ran 2.3 miles at a 7:30 pace just to get warmed up to do some strength training. Total mileage 12.8 miles. Days like these make me wonder if I have it in me to run a marathon under 3 hours.

I hope I'll be able to sleep tonight, my work hours is really starting to affect my sleep. Not good for the training.

Lack of sleep could really throw you out of whack. Additionally, you should expect a level of fatigue as you are increasing the mileage. The freshness will return when you taper.

You actually did better than I would have with this kind of sleep. I just go out and jog at 7:30 pace for 10 miles when that happens, and have a hard time convincing myself to go any faster. In fact, that is what I often do even when I do get good sleep.
